This lakefront site had some serious grade to it. Throughout the project, working our way up and down the slope required three excavators working together to maneuver equipment and material around the site.

Pictures don’t really do the grade justice. Projects like this take more planning and a different approach than working on a typical flat site, which is exactly the kind of challenging work we enjoy.

This Lakeshore Drive project has been one of our favorite jobs to date. A steep waterfront build like this takes a lot of coordination between trades, and it has been impressive to see it all come together. We really enjoyed working with Mountain High Home Builders and Selkirk Design Company to navigate this challenging site and help bring the owners’ vision to life.

Like so many others, we’ve been watching what’s happening in Spokane with heavy hearts. While we’re based in Sandpoint, wildfire is something every community in our region understands. Watching families lose their homes and be forced to evacuate is heartbreaking, and it’s impossible not to think about what we’d hope for if our own community was facing the same situation.

None of us can replace what has been lost, but we can help make the days ahead a little easier. Whether it’s bottled water, nonperishable food, diapers, wipes, formula, toiletries, new socks and underwear, clothing, blankets, pet food, school supplies, children’s toys, phone chargers, N95 masks, or gift cards for groceries and gas, every donation can make a real difference for families who are starting over and for the firefighters working tirelessly to protect our communities.

Throughout the month of August, we’ll be making donation trips to Spokane twice each week. If you’d like to help but don’t have a way to get your donations there, send us a message. We’re happy to coordinate a time to meet you and deliver them on your behalf. Let’s help our neighbors. If our community were in this position, we’d hope someone would do the same for us.

Sometimes excavation means moving dirt, and sometimes it means breaking rock. This hillside build required both! The basement and first floor are stepped into the hill, and some sections required up to 12 feet of hydraulic rock breaking. From the original ground to the lowest point of the basement, this excavation reached 23 feet deep. We spent several weeks breaking and hauling rock before we could keep digging. Jobs like this are exactly why we love what we do!
