Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Steve Dailey has been in the home building industry since 1979. Steve started out as a brick contractor and obtained his general contractors license in 1986. Steve Dailey is the proud father of three children and an enthusiastic golfer and fisherman. Steve Dailey is on the Board of Directors for the Homebuilders Association of Utah also donated his time as the 20

12 Utah Parade of Homes Chairman and represents the Greater Salt Lake Homebuilders Association. Among the numerous awards received by Steven Dailey Construction for their work are:

Peoples Choice, Best of Show, Realtor’s Choice, Best Architecture and Excellent Work by Subcontractors. In June 2001, Steve received the “Helping Hands Award” from the Salt Lake County Mayor-Nancy Workman for his efforts in KKAT Radio’s “Home for the Holidays Christmas Wish”; for his part in rebuilding a home destroyed by a fire, leaving the family with nothing. Steve’s contribution to this crisis situation is an example of his dedication to the home building industry and vigilant concern for our community.

Continuous exterior insulation, thoughts? Did you know CI is now required in the international building code. Many states including Utah have amended the code to provide alternative solutions. CI is an incredible upgrade to traditional insulation methods! It is an upgrade that you can see a real improvement from.

We used ROCKWOOL North America Comfort Board 80 on this home. It requires planning and detailing from early stages to ensure windows are set correctly, exterior cladding is planned correctly and your overall finished design is accomplished correctly. We truly believe in this method and love the benefits.

However, the honest truth is that this is one of those items that would take many years to pay back the cost in the energy savings. This is the driving factor for the state of Utah amending the code. In a world of housing crisis’ and the lack of affordable housing, mandating this upgrade across the board only made the affordable housing issue, worse. Now we’re not in the business of starter homes or affordable housing models but, the struggle is still present regardless.

At SDC we believe in building better and using methods and products that cannot only improve the energy efficiency of a home but also increase the level of comfort and longevity of the building. We’re looking forward to many more CI installs and educating clients about the benefits. We have learned a lot along the way on this one. Many details that had to be planned and solved for that were not included in the plan set. Lots of questions and solutions. That’s the beauty of construction!

Zach wrapped up this incredible remodel in Park City last week. Our team has been working on this one for a while. Adding a second story and turning an out dated Park City house into a beautiful modern piece of art. All finishes selected by the owners and perfectly wrapped up by the SDC team!

SDC had an incredible week! We were able to take our on site team members to a two day Building Science Symposium by Then we had 3 days of jobsite tours and education from the industries best! We asked a million questions from framing details with to HVAC and Plumbing questions with helped us understand how we could communicate with Utah architects to better design for air sealing and thermal bridging, and .bruton and answered millions of questions helping our team take everything to the next level! Then one of my favorite parts of the week was filming an episode of Built Here with .bruton all about what it’s like to be in a generational business and work side by side with family. Surprised that Steve Dailey would step in front of the camera and Jake said he did better than Me so maybe we will have to make more of that happen 😂 I can’t say Thank You enough to everyone who came to Utah this week! We’re so thankful for our peers and friends and so many more! My heart is filled with gratitude and I hope our team walked away from the symposium with a greater understanding of what we do and why we do it. Cheers to education and I’m so thankful for these moments!

Wow what a build! Check out this incredible progress at Project Firebreak! The details required on a house that’s in a high score. Wildland urban interface are incredibly challenging. Our Framing crew is doing a phenomenal job on this project.
