HVACTA: Andrew in Action

One of our primary instructors, Andrew, has been in the HVAC field for over two decades as a technician and HVAC owner (Tropical Air of Central Florida). His knowledge is recognized throughout the industry and is can be taken advantage of by all training participants.

HVACTA: Andrew in Action

In addition to Andrew, Robert is also one of our primary instructors. Robert has been in the HVAC field as technician and owner for over four decades. Coming out of Oregon, his experience has proved most valuable.

Today Andrew reviewed wiring… an important element in all HVAC systems. To break it down: HVAC low-voltage wiring typically operates on a 24-volt circuit supplied by a step-down transformer inside the furnace or air handler. It acts as the control system—or "messenger"—telling high-voltage relays when to turn the compressor, blower motor, or heating elements on and off.

From low voltage wiring, to system birth (new system swap), to diagnostics and troubleshooting, to component testing and replacement, to the end (scrapping), you will do it all.

HVACTA Training Accelerated

The amount of hands-on learning over the past four weeks has been insane. Think about it, three complete systems new installs, building distribution boxes, running flex, breaking down and reinstalling multiple air handlers and condensers, and this is just the tip of what has been accomplished.

HVACTA Training Accelerated

What can you learn in four weeks?

At HVAC Technical Academy, you will be learning, living, and doing HVAC life in its fullest. Our six-week learn-by-doing approach is unlike any other program out there. To gain a glimpse of what YOU will be doing, look at the photos presented over the past month (or several years).

HVACTA and Mirchi Indian Street Food

Today one of our participants, Sanjay, treated the group at HVAC Technical Academy with delicious (and spicy) Indian cuisine from Mirchi Indian Street Food. Needless to say, an excellent lunch among a special group.

HVACTA and Mirchi Indian Street Food

Growing up in Houston, I rarely had the opportunity the eat Indian food, but now I am so glad I did! The folks from Mirchi Indian Street Food know how to serve it up right. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. For those who have tried this spot, give them a call at 407-347-3777 and tell them Sanjay from HVAC Technical Academy sent you!

Though our HVAC program is less than two months total time, the relationships built are strong and are life lasting. I heard from the grape vine brisket will be on the menu… if I told you which day there would not be any leftovers for me… sorry but gotta do what I gotta do. By the way, if you look real close, you might get a glimpse of me.

Building relationship and transforming dreams into reality is what we are all about… oh, and can’t forget the HVAC part.

For those interested in HVAC as a career, give me a call or visit our website, schedule a chat and/or submit an enrollment form. Next term begins September 8th so you best get on it today.

HVAC Learning and Loving

These few days of record heat has found all learning the old-fashioned way: by doing! Between yesterday, today, and tomorrow, all components and parts will be examined, tested, swapped, and brazed. In addition, all are required to explain the purpose of each component. You got it, we are talking full cycle.

HVAC Learning and Loving

Over the past four weeks this group has progressed from minimal (if any) knowledge, skills, and abilities to become confident ready to get the job HVAC candidates. The next two weeks will be focusing on building confidence and competence in the field. Can’t forget the customer service side, we got that covered.

To note, I do get doubters now asking, “how can we do so much in six weeks?” The deal is we are a live five days a week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Over a six-week period you will gain more knowledge than ever imagined. Over the first week and a half we spend about 70% in the classroom (30% doing the hands-on) while the final four weeks you will be learning and loving the outside way of learning about 70% (30% classroom experience).

In other words, we don’t just talk about it… we do it.

HVAC Technical Academy is a hands-on adult workshop facility located in Sanford, Florida, where “Learn by Doing” defines our approach to get YOU on a path to personal AND professional success. Interested in pursuing a high in demand career in just six weeks, HVACTA may be the path.

HVAC System Total Break Down and Rebuild

Though hot outside, no heat can keep this group from personal and professional success.

When it comes to obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities within the HVAC industry, hands-on experience goes a long way. Naturally we share a great deal of insight, safety, and applications within the classroom session, but there is nothing like “doing.”

Let me know if you are ready for this…

HVAC System Total Break Down and Rebuild

Giving you a snapshot of what is meant by learn by doing… today’s assignment is as follows (and the pictures too):

Summary: Each participant will be required to break down (completely) an air handler and condenser… an empty housing will be the only thing standing. Adjacent ah and condenser housing, you will then return both pieces of equipment to its original form.

Safety: Do not compromise your safety, always wear your personal protective equipment, glasses, gloves, etc. NOTHING is more important than your safety.

Details: recommend taking photos prior to dismantling to ensure status return.

Air Handler Specifics:

* All parts will be explained and tested
*What part does
*What part effects
* Clean blower wheel
* Clean evaporator coil
* Upon completion, system will be returned to the way it was

Condenser:

* Prior to performing anything must confirm if system is dry or not
* Will determine type of refrigerant via gauges and PT Chart
* All parts will be explained and tested
*What part does
*What part effects
Upon completion, system will be returned to the way it was

Once air handler and condenser have been returned to the way it was, you will then be required to do the same thing on a second set… but this time, instead of returning the system back to its original state, you will practice on your scrapping skills.
Stop dreaming and start becoming.

Looking forward to being part of this journey. For those interested in HVAC as a career, give me a call or visit our website, schedule a chat and/or submit an enrollment form. Next term begins September 8th so you best get on it today.
