Steve then went to work for one of Santa Barbara County’s premier custom home builders, overseeing some of the company’s most challenging projects and honing his abilities for high-end building. After 12 years as a project manager, Steve is now the owner of Litchfield Builders here in Santa Barbara County where he can offer hands-on custom craftsmanship for small projects or dependable contracting services for larger ones.

Giving New Life to a Bunya-Bunya Tree

When a towering bunya-bunya tree near the Litchfield family home began leaning dangerously close to the house, safety had to come first. But instead of letting this majestic tree go to waste, the Litchfield Builders team had it milled into slabs, ensuring its legacy would live on in meaningful ways.
Now, this incredible wood is being used to craft one-of-a-kind custom furniture, stunning countertops, and mantels—each piece adding timeless character and a connection to nature. This massive tree will continue to enhance homes and projects for years to come.

This is definitely a first…installing a medieval metal sculpture of King Ghidora for our client in their new custom Mesa modern contemporary home. This work of art weighs over 1,000lbs and had to be installed prior to enclosing the building 🐉 thanks to for sharing!

A peaceful view of a mature oak tree in the cold springs area, renovating the original Yankee Farm farmhouse, finishing the cladding on a steel and stucco modern ranch ADU in Montecito, putting finishing touches on an outdoor entertaining patio in the foothills, building a new/old barn, basement formwork on a modern contemporary Mesa new build.
