2023 Throwback Post Part 2!!✌🏼
This time we wanted to share some photos from last spring’s UCSC Environmental Studies Senior Poster Symposium. It is different from the UC Davis Plant Sciences Symposium that the LSP team participated earlier in the year as this is mostly dedicated to undergraduate student research within the Environmental Studies Department here at UCSC. It’s a great annual opportunity to practice and expose oneself to a presentation poster talk setting and other cool research!

Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻
For this week’s lab activity, we had some fun carving our very own prickly pear cacti instead of the usual pumpkins because we know out of anyone that making holes in these prickly pears won’t harm them in the long-run. Also because it’d be wrong if we didn’t choose to carve cacti.

We went UC Davis!? 🌱🐮
On Friday May 12, the Living Solar Panels Team travelled north to UC Davis for the annual Plant Sciences Symposium to hear talks and give presentations on our respective projects!

🩹- Cactus Health Assistant Angelina shared their research with their poster on streptacantha self-sealing and their topical treatments for it
🌵 - Soil Nutrient Assistant Erin showcased their poster on the usage of nitrogen in soil to see the voltage of the streptacantha
🌡 - Temperature and CO2 Assistant Joe talked about their research/poster on the effects increased temperature has on the voltage of streptacantha

New connections and ideas were made, and we couldn’t be more grateful for this amazing opportunity!
