Here it is! This is my entry. This season, the challenge was to make a bar cart. Because we do all of our entertaining outside, I decided to make an outdoor version. It is made of 100% reclaimed wood, both redwood and cedar. I love the cool detail you get from the termite damage! Can you believe that used to be a fence post? If I had had time, there are some things I would have done differently, like not using pocket holes, but with work and everything else, I’m pretty excited that I pulled it off at all. And I absolutely love it! I included mitered corners and doweled legs. Swipe to the later photos for details of how I left parts of the dowels exposed by making the shelves narrower than the legs. I like the negative space, and that’s also something I played with on the top shelf which is made with slats. It’s also really functional in that the slats will not catch any rain water that ends up on the shelf as it lives on our back patio. I can’t wait to throw a party and put this guy to use!

It’s done! Here is my entry for the intermediate category of
This side table is my modern take on the build plans provided. The wood is ash, there are half laps at the corners on the top and the shelf, dowels connect the legs, and I included self-made drawer slides.
I had such a blast pushing myself on this build with my first half laps, my first drawer (and slides), making my first leg templates, and all kinds of other firsts. Mostly, though, I am completely stoked that it came out so “me.” Thank you for making this possible!

Vacation totally unmoors me; my kid is home from school, and I am completely out of routine. Yesterday, I took that chaotic energy and built myself a vanity/dressing table situation out of poplar scraps (and added a cute shibori scarf from I got in a swag bag for a color pop). Upgrade!

Someday, I’m going to renovate the f- out of my dated kitchen. Until then, I’m going to fill up the triangular space behind my sink with plants!

I built this planter out of some gorgeous cedar, but I wasn’t sure how to deal with the drainage issue. Luckily, my BFF is , and she suggested keeping succulents in their original pots and hiding those pots with rocks. It worked! It’s been gracing my kitchen for a while now, and all is looking good! (Also, if you haven’t checked out her page yet, you really should, especially if you’re a zone 9 gardener.)

Also, check out those spoons I carved in the background 😁

This beauty/beast is headed to its new home today! It’s a 18” x 11.5” x 2” color-blocked, edge-grain cutting board made from walnut, cherry, and maple, with a super-subtle rounded edge. It’s so heavy and satisfying!
