MATT Construction is honored to have played a key advisory role in bringing the USC Shade Zones Build 2026 to life! Working alongside Autodesk, Arup, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), we helped USC's Shade Zones Design Competition winners Jaci Hinman and Neri Landi transform their vision into a real-world canopies which are now standing at Downtown Inglewood and Expo Park. Our team was thrilled to lend our support and expertise to the project, and we're equally grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such talented emerging designers. This project is part of ShadeLA, a citywide initiative co-organized by USC Dornsife and UCLA Luskin to bring shade to Los Angeles communities ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2027 Super Bowl, and 2028 Olympics.

MATT Construction proudly builds this city everyday — and sometimes we get to make it a little cooler too.

A milestone moment in Downtown L.A.

The final steel beam is in place at The Broad’s expansion—bringing the museum one step closer to opening its new space ahead of the 2028 Olympics.

This 50,000 sq. ft. addition will increase gallery space by 70%, giving visitors more ways than ever to experience the collection—including new immersive art storage and open-air courtyards.
