So what's the best way to prevent this?

The simplest action you can take to maximize your roof's life is to hire a licensed roofer for roof inspections at least twice yearly. This will allow you to pinpoint any issues before they become serious, saving you thousands of dollars in the long run.

Hey Santa Monica! We often get the question “How do I know when my roof just needs a repair, versus when it needs to be fully replaced?”

Let’s tackle that. There’s a few things to consider: The age of your roof, the type of roof you have, how long you plan to live in the home, and the problems you’re dealing with.

Age: If your roof is over 15 to 20 years old, though you might not necessarily need to get it replaced, that is oftentimes the lifetime for lower-end shingles. Around this time, it’s best to have a local roofing company take a look to see if it’s time to get things repaired or replaced.
