The most likely cause of frosting back down the suction line, ( the line that returns to the compressor from the evaporator ), is a lack of air flow over the evaporator. This could be caused by a multitude of things, For instance, there could be an obstruction preventing air flow over the evaporator coils. Ice formation on the evaporator coils from a lack of defrost will also cause a blocked evaporator, and cause liquid refrigerant to migrate back down the suction line, ( the line returning refrigerant to the compressor ).
Defrost systems could have failed because of a broken defrost winding in the defrost heater, or a defective defrost control, or a defective defrost sensor.
Most all of these problems require logical trouble shooting, and familiarity with this particular make, and model.
YES !!! any refrigeration mechanic/service technician, can diagnose this sort of problem, but familiarity with a particular make, model, and year of unit makes it much easier, and quicker for the technician, and this in the long run saves the customer money.
Since this is a new unit, I recommend contacting the manufactures authorized service representatives, and having them service you appliance.
They are the best equipped, and trained to service your unit, plus they are likely to know of any factory recalls, or known factory defects.
Some times these things are as simple as removing a piece of improperly located packing that was the result of incorrect product packaging. Never rule out the most basic solution !!! For more questions call Sub Zero Repair Beverly Hills 800-428-2199
