“I want it to look like a magazine.” Those words, combined with a desire to fill the garden with as much California native plant diversity as possible, became the foundation for this project.

Every detail was meticulously thought out. From the natural course of the path, to which 3/8” stone would best complement the flagstone and feel better underfoot, to the placement of the rocks so the space wouldn’t feel crowded, and placing the lights so they would look as good off as they did on.

On this property there are over 75 different species of California native plants. Some were chosen for their aesthetic features, but the majority were selected for their seed-bearing or berry-bearing purposes.

Thank you for trusting us with your vision. 🌿

Want to see me transplant this thistle? Want to see me do it again?

If you’ve read this far, just want to give a little update. We are currently transplanting thousands of baby plants, like this thistle, into 1 gallon pots. In a few weeks we will have a lot more plants available.

Want a California native garden but not sure where to start?

Many homeowners know they want a beautiful, water-wise landscape that supports birds, butterflies, and pollinators. What stops them is not knowing what to plant, where to begin, or how to avoid costly mistakes.

During a California Native Garden Planning Session, we’ll walk your property together, discuss your goals, answer your questions, and figure out exactly what makes sense for your space.

Whether you decide to tackle the project yourself or eventually hire help, you’ll leave knowing exactly what to do next and feeling confident about how to move your project forward.

If you’d like to learn more, send me a message and tell me a little about what you’re hoping to create. If it seems like a good fit, we’ll schedule a quick 10–15 minute phone call to talk through your goals.

Look at the growth on this beautiful garden in Ventura. Planted only two months ago.

For this garden in particular my client wanted to add native plants to a corner of their yard. It doesn’t have to be an entire yard, an underutilized corner is the perfect place to start.

Look at the first comment for a video of the day we planted it
