✨ Please vote for Kyla for People Choice Award at the Princesses of Paradise Pageant on July 13th. ✨

Kyla was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) in August 2021 at 4 years old. She is almost 2 years in remission now and has her next MRI, lumbar puncture and other tests in under 3 weeks.

She has had to relearn how to sit up again, crawl, walk aided with a walker and then walk unassisted, talk and many other things including the daily struggle of having paralysis to the right side of her face.
She averages 9 therapies a week to help get her back on track not including swimming lessons and her new found love for jiu-jitsu.

Kyla recently joined her big brother Kaydn at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu on the Emerald Coast after watching him for the last year. To go from being unable to even stand to learning how to defend herself from bullies is a triumph and she loves it! The instructors are amazing and I’m not just saying that, they know Kyla can’t go at the same pace as everyone else but they adapt things to her abilities and don’t leave her out and last week she got her first stripe on her white belt and she is so excited to get more in the future.

Kyla will be taking part in the Princesses of Paradise Pageant for the second time. Kyla has been training hard and will be showing off some of her jiu-jitsu skills as part of the “best part of me” at the pageant along with her new bestie Megan who is one of the fantastic instructors at Gracie.
