Biophilic Decor
The term "biophilia," an affinity for the living world, was coined back in the 1980s by American biologist and author E.O. Wilson. Humans have an instinctive drive to connect with nature.
Bringing plants inside is the easiest way to do this. You can also decorate with natural elements; think of warm woods, seashells, or even crystals.

Part of our job means we have lots of left over samples, materials, paints, etc. from each job. As I was trying to go through and organize the mass collection, I came across a pretty blue outdoor house paint (it was ten years old and never opened!) I was about to put it in the discard pile when my husband said it could be salvaged. After some major mixing and a few major spills, it was fine! This picture is of a painting I did with the blue paint in about 30 min. I've had this large canvas for some time now and this is the third painting I have done on it. I love that I can just paint right over it the next time I need a new pop of color or if I get sick of the current look.

Modern Done Right

After years talking about starting our own design firm, we finally made the jump. Since 2015, we have bought and renovated 4 residential homes. We have also done design work for several clients. The picture above is our favorite to date. We consider ourselves a small boutique design firm. My husband, Steve, is the architect and lead designer and I, Stacy, am the Realtor and ‘designer in training’. We’ve been married for 12 years and have two children. We are so glad we have a job we love and that we get to do it together.
