Some trees carry more than fruit—they carry history. 🥭🌳
Today, while pruning this massive mango tree in West Bradenton, we learned that the property sits within the historic Sans Terre tract—land connected to the Warner and Barney families, pioneers who helped establish some of the area’s earliest mango trees.
J. W. Barney maintained an extensive mango collection here for decades, including the historic “Eleanor” mango grown from Cuban seed. We cannot confirm this tree’s exact variety, but its enormous size and location suggest it could be a surviving piece—or descendant—of that remarkable collection.
And, of course, Sam made sure to fill his bag before the crew got started. 🥭
Sometimes tree care is about more than pruning. Sometimes it’s about preserving a living piece of Old Florida.
