This entire room is open, and the kitchen needed to make a statement without overpowering the “fireplace” on the opposite side of the room. Plus the vast space (the island is 18 feet long!) needed to be warm and inviting for the owners and their guests. With an open-plan design, everything has a place and needs to be determined prior to construction.
