A new chapter is taking shape in Downtown Sarasota.📍

We’re excited to share that Suárez Architecture has been selected as the architect for 1801 Main Street, an ambitious mixed-use development bringing together retail, attainable housing, office space, and condominium residences, all integrated with a parking structure.

Projects like this are an exciting opportunity to think beyond a single building and consider how architecture can contribute to the way a community lives, works, connects, and grows.

We’re honored to be part of what’s next for Main Street and can’t wait to share more as the vision takes shape.

The best architecture begins with listening. 👂

For Dr. Mark Kauffman, retired orthopedic surgeon, developer, and Suarez client, what stood out was not simply what we could design, but how we approached the process.

At Suarez Architecture, we believe the project should never become a statement of what an architect can do. It should be a reflection of what the client needs, envisions, and ultimately hopes to create.

Sabal Palm Plaza is a reflection of that philosophy. Our role is to listen, understand, and translate a client’s vision into something thoughtful, purposeful, and lasting. 🏗️

What happens when a museum becomes more than a building?

We’re exploring that idea with Bilbox, a conceptual design by Suárez Architecture that brings together the “Bilbao effect” and the minimalist “white box” gallery.

The vision? A cultural destination that extends beyond its walls, connecting the museum to public spaces, parks, boat ramps, and the surrounding community.

Even the building itself becomes part of the conversation, using live projections to bring what’s happening inside out into the city.

At Suárez, we love exploring what architecture can be, and Bilbox is one way we’re asking that question.

Did you know Suárez Architecture designed the Greater Sarasota Chamber building? 👀

You’ve probably driven past it countless times, but there’s something pretty special about having a hand in designing a place that plays such an important role in the Sarasota community.

The Chamber is where local businesses connect, ideas take shape, and the community comes together to help Sarasota grow. Getting to contribute to a building with that kind of presence and purpose is something we’re proud of.

And if you’ve ever wondered who was behind the design… now you know. 😉

Designed for connection. Built for the future. ⚡️

For Peace River Electric Cooperative’s new 7,500-square-foot Service Center in Lakewood Ranch, the goal was more than creating a new place to do business.

Suárez Architecture designed a recognizable, functional home for PRECO that reflects the cooperative’s role in a rapidly growing community—from integrating the company’s signature colors into the architecture to selecting sustainable, forward-thinking, and low-maintenance materials inspired by the movement of electricity.

The project also required thoughtful collaboration with SMR, using material boards and renderings to demonstrate how the building could complement Lakewood Ranch’s established architectural character.

The result is a building designed to serve PRECO, its customers, and the community for years to come.

Client: Peace River Electric Cooperative
Builder: Willis Smith Construction

This is why we love what we do.

At SuĂĄrez Architecture, we believe every project can become more than what it started as.

The redesign of the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) is a perfect example of transforming an existing building with modern design, elevated finishes, and a sense of warmth that makes the space feel both sophisticated and inviting.

We love taking what’s there, seeing what it could become, and bringing that vision to life.

A special thanks to Tony Veldkamp for trusting our team to deliver.

A New Shade of Modern.

Modern isn’t a moment in time.
It’s a conversation between what came before and what comes next.
A line drawn by hand.
A model shaped piece by piece.
A screen filled with possibilities.
A centuries-old idea reimagined through a contemporary lens.

At Suárez Architecture, we believe the most compelling spaces live somewhere between craft and technology, instinct and precision, tradition and innovation. We don’t simply follow what’s modern. We explore what modern can become.

A few weeks ago, the Suárez Architecture team headed to Kissimmee for the 2026 AIA Florida Convention & Trade Show, and what an incredible few days we had. 📍

The The American Institute of Architects (AIA) brought together architects and industry professionals from across Florida for a few days of learning, collaboration, and looking toward the future of our profession.

One of our highlights was connecting with Andrew Chin, Dean of the School of Architecture + Engineering Technology (SAET) at Florida A&M University (FAMU).

From exploring the latest products and innovations at the trade show to sharing ideas, the convention was a great reminder that architecture is always evolving… and the best ideas come from staying connected. 🤝

Concept Spotlight | Mixed-Use Urban Living 🔹

What if home, work, shopping, and community all existed within a single destination?

This proposed mixed-use development reimagines urban living by blending residential spaces with everyday conveniences, including neighborhood retail, dining, and a supermarket, creating a vibrant environment where people can live, connect, and thrive.

Thoughtfully designed to encourage walkability and activate the streetscape, the concept reflects a vision for communities that are both dynamic and enduring.

At Suarez Architecture, every concept begins with a question: How can design improve the way we live?

"We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us." — Winston Churchill

Every line drawn, every material chosen, and every space imagined carries the power to influence the way we live, work, connect, and create.

Architecture is more than the design of buildings. It's the design of experiences, communities, and the moments that unfold within them.

At Suarez Architecture, we believe the spaces we create today become part of the stories we live tomorrow.
