Wim Hof - the “ice man”… Free and chill

This sits above my home office desk.

But more importantly, my time block schedule…

If you want to be free and chill, you need to be structured and focused.

What roles and responsibilities do you have during your week that actually move the needle?

Do you have them budgeted in your calendar?

My time block schedule represents my zones of focus. Each week I move the needle, it’s not always massive shifts but it’s consistent. And consistency is massive.

I have been using my hour glass more and more.

I pasted these “Rules for Flow” on it. And I write down my intentions forr my Flow Sesh. 😎

I can get more done in an hour that what I used to get done in a whole day when I follow these rules.

Thought I’d share. Hope it helps you up your efficiency and output.

“You and your team treated our house as if it were your own”

I heard this from a customer this past weekend as we recorded a video testimonial of their completed project.

As if they read it right off our website!

We literally preach this to our TEAM at every step of the customer journey.

Marketing - it’s in the tone of all our marketing efforts. Website, social media, etc

Sales - my favorite thing to say on a consultation “If this were my home, I’d ___________” Customers always love hearing my honest opinion.

Production - from daily site cleanliness to floor protection to taking shoes off when walking in the door, the field team truly embodys this. And if the field team can embody this virtue, you know you got a rock solid crew (and we do!)

When the customer said this to me, this it sent chills up my spine.

“Mission Accomplished!” 🚀 I thought to myself

In a moment like that, I felt a sense of completeness…

This is why I do what I do. One TEAM, One Dream 🔥

Austin, name that project where you felt like you “made it”…. 👇

We built this in 2020/2021 timeframe.

We were 3 years old. I had just started moving out of sales and Trevor Engels started conquering all things decks.

This one was small but mighty 💪

✅ Curved deck.
✅ Tight quarters.
✅ Custom Spiral Railing.

The TEAM stepped up big - handle many challenges and complications. This one put hair on our chest and made us feel like we could accomplish anything.

This one made us feel like we belonged. We were finally a top deck builder.

To us, TEAM means CUSTOM. If you want something custom, you call TEAM. 😎

The Ultimate Process for a successful construction company…

Literally the system we’ve built for the last 8 years.

What took 5 years to build in Iowa has only taken us 2 years to implement in Florida.

When we do it again it’ll take 1 year. With the goal being able to implement this system in under 6 months.

TEAM Deck & Fence will service the whole state of Iowa eventually. We are looking for sales/GMs in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines right now.

We are doing the same in Florida and aspire to service the whole West Coast of Florida. I’m 2026 we will be looking for sales/GMs in Fort Myers and Tampa.

Our Custom Build powerhouse aka “TEAM Builders” is looking to build more new homes. We break ground on a new home in Cedar Falls next month. In Florida, we break ground in July on a new home in Bradenton.

This system has taken years to build but now allows us to provide world class decks, fences, and custom builds with precision and speed.

Is CEO your title? 🤔

What does that mean for you?

For the longest time I felt like an imposter. CEO never really felt right and at the end of the day a title is just a title.

“Husband”, “Dad”, “Brother”, “Son” those were titles I wore with pride and felt right.

But CEO just felt weird. Eventually it kinda fit tho… “Chief Everything Officer” I called it - felt like I was doing everything under the sun…

To some degree I still do and some days are complete chaos. Most weekends I find myself still putting in serious hours.

Today tho, I feel like I’m accountable to my team, driving the mission forward and locking down some big deals.

My team this year has some HUGE goals and we are on track to hit them. It’s incredible what a team is capable of when I can drive the tempo and the pace. My team responds well when I get all excited and pitch the big vision. Love when my team acts with urgency - I stand with my chin up in admiration, like a proud Dad 🫡

Ai necklace?!

I’ve seen too much. Been wearing it this whole week and I’m blown away.

I can focus more on people and the conversations I’m in and less on writing things down and taking notes.

End of day summaries extremely accurate and todos so on point I couldn’t have wrote them better myself.

Ties into my calendar, learns team member voices.

Unreal what is happening in the world today.

Integrating features into my StickyOS Project Management App.

If you thought I was good at follow ups and accountability before, I just got a whole lot better 🦍

Dan Martell says it best…

Success has zero correlation to having a college degree (and I have one!)

On the flip side:

Success has 100% correlation to what you consume in your free time.

My business, life, and health never took off until I started investing into those things outside of my normal 9-5pm.

I remember when I listened to my first podcast in 2014, it was about a murder (Serial Podcast I think?)

After that it was Bigger Pockets Podcast. That lead me to my first flip.

My first flip lead me to Trevor Engels

Trevor and I started TEAM Builders Limited

The rest is history. I still read 20-30 minutes a day and listen to podcasts while I drive. My vehicle is a mobile university.

Be smart on what you consume. Your life depends on it. 🚀
