Have a construction dilemma? Call us!
We love to get creative and save you money!

These homeowners wanted to add a bedroom but were told by other contractors that the solution was a home addition that would cost them 3-5x what they had in their budget for the project.

With their permission to explore other layouts with their space, we were able to get creative!

1. We found an awkwardly wide hallway with an existing ‘egress’ window. - Perhaps a new bedroom?

2. Found an unused cabinet behind the bathroom door. - Could we remove the cabinet and turn it around for a bedroom closet?

3. Found a large storage room that was inconveniently accessed via a separate room. - Could we relayout the storage and convert it into a new hallway without losing the storage space?

4. We also found 3 existing doors that we could repurpose for the new spaces.

The result? A new floor layout that created a new hallway, improved storage efficiency, and an added bedroom WITH a closet! All coming in Under Budget and Completed Early!

Thank you for the opportunity to get creative and for trusting in us!

We received a call from a customer with fantastic intentions of finishing this attic themselves.

However life got in the way, they found they didn’t have the time to finish it within their timeline… they just wanted it DONE.

The original framing in this space was over 100 years old, and considering not a single wall or ceiling was framed flat/linear, we think this one turned out alright.

And a last minute add had us swapping out the original pine stair treads with solid oak treads that really made this space pop.

Thank you for the opportunity!

Water can be a killer to a house. Regular maintenance, recognizing problems, and responding to issues you find are critical to preserving your home!

This owner found a water spot on the main floor ceiling, and called right away. We knew a beautiful walk in shower was overhead, but upon investigating we found fine cracks within the grout lines, and places where grout had been ‘patched’ by a previous owner.

Option A: Grind out grout and regrout (less expensive, temporary fix)

Option B: Costly/Invasive rebuilding of the entire shower to ensure a good pan membrane and waterproofing.

The owners thankfully chose B, because as demolition started, we found the wall tiles were easily peeling off the wall. There was no proper tile backer and it was improperly waterproofed. Significant mold was growing behind many tiles. And the floor pan had never consisted of a proper membrane, which led to floor rot so significant, it was only a matter of time before a foot went through the shower floor. Structural repairs were not only necessary for the subfloor but for the floor trusses, and exterior walls as well.

The demo was supposed to stop at the shower, but the mold trail led out of the shower and to the toilet, where we found even more mold/rot/decay.

During the rebuild, care was taken to ensure the walls were built of proper tile backer and waterproofed accordingly. A custom shower pan was formed and membrane installed for the base.

The result?
- A watertight bathroom!
- New tile/stone throughout the shower, bench, bathroom floor, vanity top…
- and a fresh new toilet since we were so far into the project
- AND a Happy Customer!
Thanks for trusting us with your home!

This customer reached out to us with roof runoff issues that led to a significant rotting problem.

Objectives:
- lower an old stump and reclaim the deck and roofline that was once built around the tree
- replace rotting lower porch involving joists, posts, railings, decking, and ceiling.
- extend a roofline along the front of the upper deck to push water away from the lower deck.
- reconstruct the roof and rubber supporting the upper deck
- rebuild the upper deck
- reroof the entire home and redirect roof runoff away from the the upper deck

The challenges on this one required some creativity, which made it fun, and one we’ll remember! Thank you to the homeowners for trusting us with your beautiful space!

Sometimes projects aren’t all about the aesthetics… it’s about functionality.

When you literally can’t get out of your garage, and all the tree companies are backed up because of storm damage… don’t forget we do exterior work as well!

This tree/stump removal led to removing another 6 smaller dead trees, bringing in black dirt for the front lawn and around septic tanks where the ground was settling, grass seeding, and a fresh driveway with a good pressure washing.

The only unfortunate casualty here was the fence the tree landed on, but a replacement is already on order!

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Just because a room is small and meant for the dirty clothes and shoes, doesn’t mean it can’t still be inviting and a place you enjoy spending time in.

This pass-through laundry was an example of collaboration! The owner wanted to save money by doing some of the demolition, and also sourcing the cabinets. Meanwhile we handled the plumbing, venting, lighting, and backsplash.

Such a sharp look!

Sometimes a bathroom just wants a ‘Glow Up’!

For this one, we removed the heavy and short cast iron tub and updated with a taller acrylic, we swapped the dated pedestal sink for a cabinet with a built-in power station, changed out the cabinets for newer custom versions including floating shelves, added recessed lighting, and brought in some gorgeous tile!

To save some money, the owners here chose to do the demolition themselves, which works for us. 👍

… stay tuned for their laundry ‘refresh’ coming soon!

A customer was looking for a fresh take on their dated kitchen island, but wasn’t looking for the massive investment/undertaking of clearing out cabinets, demolition, floor patching, new cabinets, and possibly new countertops…

SO we opted for a new island wrap, and a thrilled customer meant it was a win!

Sometimes unexpected circumstances happen and a contractor can’t finish a project. Not a problem, we can finish where they left off!

This custom island was being built, but left in pieces and needing custom assembly and finishing. Add a bit of new plumbing and electrical, and where once a table stood, is now a gorgeous maple kitchen island/buffet!

Thank you for the opportunity! We like a good challenge!

A full home wasn't on the 'bingo card' for 2024, but when a customer asks, we deliver!

In this case, the homeowner had recently purchased this 1850's log home with the attached 1980's addition. They were working with an architect and a builder for months in preparation of the build, but just one week before breaking ground, their chosen builder backed out of the project.

They lost hope of building their dream home before welcoming their first child... but after a phone call, Croix Valley was up to the challenge and resurrected their dream! In just over three months' time, we turned over beautiful home!

More posts to come on some of the details of this project!

This was a fun collab!

The owners’ two-week vacation allowed for just enough time for us to come into this home and make some pretty dramatic changes. In collaboration with their daughter-in-law, we were able to:
✅ Transform an old pantry into a finished functional sewing room
✅ Convert an awkward space accessed through the bathroom into a well organized pantry accessed through the hallway
✅ Deliver a spa-like makeover to a dated bathroom

Shout out to Rachael and her team for not only her design ideas, but also her hard labor in organizinging/decorating these spaces once we wrapped up!

Needless to say, the owners were in love when they arrived home from vacation!

* We appreciate the opportunity to work on your space!
