We showed you how this PVE elevator was installed. Now, here’s what it’s actually like to ride in one.

This elevator was added with long-term accessibility in mind, giving the homeowners an alternative to the stairs. The ride is smooth, and the built-in seat allows anyone unable to stand to remain seated between floors.

The glass enclosure and ocean view make this anything but a traditional elevator ride.

Before work begins, here’s what Perkins View looks like today.

One of the biggest challenges on this site is the amount of ledge surrounding the home. Our first order of business will be hammering and removing a portion of it to make room for the new work.

We’re excited to start sharing the process as work gets underway.

As the new driveway cures, we have a chance to step back and take in from the street.

After nine months of hard work, this project is coming to a close. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing it together.

From this angle, you can see how naturally the addition fits with the original home. Continuing the bowed roofline and carefully matching the proportions helped create a seamless transition between existing and new.

The goal was always for the addition to feel as though it had been here from the beginning, and seeing that vision come together is something we are incredibly proud of.

A first look inside Perkins View.

On Monday, we shared the exterior. Today, we’re sharing a sneak peek at the interior.

Set in a beautiful part of Ogunquit, this home is about to undergo a complete renovation.

We’re beyond thrilled to get this one started, with demolition of the existing home set to begin soon.

What makes a great subcontractor?

We’ve narrowed it down to the three most important things we look for when working with subs:

Team Player
Reliability
Problem Solver

As general contractors, it’s essential that we work with people who take pride in their work and work well with everyone around them.

No project is without its challenges, which is why communication and reliability matter so much. When everyone is working toward the same goal, challenges are handled efficiently and the focus stays on delivering the highest level of work for the client.

A small detail rooted in traditional New England architecture.

Known as shutter dogs or shutter holdbacks, these pieces were traditionally used to keep operable shutters secured against the house when open, preventing the wind from catching them and slamming them back against the home.

On this home, the shutters are fixed, but the traditional hardware keeps the exterior historically accurate and true to the style of the home.

Some of the best additions to a custom home are the ones that make it work better for years to come.

This PVE elevator gives the homeowners easy access to both levels of the house without the space and structure required for a traditional elevator shaft.

Its compact design and glass enclosure allow it to fit cleanly into the home while still keeping the space feeling open.

A practical addition now, and an even smarter one for the future.

Here’s a quick look at yesterday’s PVE elevator install.

Getting this one inside was a little more involved than simply bringing it through the front door. We brought in the crane, lifted the elevator over the house, and carefully brought it through the sliding doors at the back of the home.

Everything went smoothly, and after finishing up the wiring, we were able to get it up and running.

We’ll share another look soon for anyone who hasn’t seen one of these elevators before, including how it works and what it’s actually like to ride in one.
