Happy National Cat Day from our two newest design consultants. 🐾

These two showed up for the photo shoot and decided to inspect everything themselves. They checked the island (comfortable), the countertops (cool to the touch), and the views out the big windows (excellent bird-watching).

We design kitchens for the whole family, and that includes the four-legged members. A durable countertop that wipes clean, a good sunny spot, and plenty of space to hang out with your people.

They gave it two paws up. 🐈‍⬛🐈

Summer’s over. Porch season isn’t.

Along with this new deck, we added a screen room to one end. With EZ Screen Porch Windows , it’s more than a screen room.

The panels open for a full screened-in breeze on summer evenings. When the air turns crisp, they close up to block wind and rain and hold on to the day’s warmth.

Not every phase makes the highlight reel, but it all matters. In Brunswick, the new addition is wrapping up, and we’re turning to the original house: waterproofing, flashing, new cedar shakes, and paint. This is the work you don’t see that keeps a home standing strong for decades.

Before we choose a single cabinet, we ask one question: what are you storing, and how do you use it? The answer decides everything, including whether drawers or pullouts will serve you better.

This one began as a kitchen and bathroom remodel. Once we got into the existing structure, our clients faced a big decision. Rather than patch around older framing and systems, we took down about two-thirds of the house and rebuilt it new.

The result is a home built to last, including:

A new home from foundation to roof
A covered porch with cable railings to keep the view front and center
A custom stairway down the wooded hillside to the water’s edge, bringing the Maine coast right to their doorstep

Projects like this are why we value the design-build approach. When plans have to change, having design and construction under one roof means we can adjust together and keep everyone on the same page from start to finish.

What would make your home easier to live in for the long run? We'd love to hear.

One thing we do when remodeling a bathroom is add blocking behind the walls now. It costs very little today and makes adding support later simple and seamless.

Some of our favorite details are the ones you don't see right away. 🌿 In this deep green kitchen, the tall larder hides a complete coffee and beverage station, handy in the morning and out of sight when guests arrive.

The inset cabinetry is one of the most exacting details in a kitchen: each door sits flush in its frame with an even gap on every side. It's a craft our in-house cabinet team takes real pride in.
