🔥 ANOTHER CHIMNEY SAFETY PROJECT UNDERWAY! 🔥
Today we started a very important chimney restoration project on a home where the sale had been delayed because of unsafe chimney conditions.
Like many homes, this chimney serves multiple systems — the main boiler and the fireplace.
During our inspection, we identified serious concerns with the boiler flue, including evidence of combustion gases/Carbon Monoxide entering areas of the home. This is exactly why proper chimney and venting inspections are so important.
We also found that the main masonry fireplace smoke chamber required a protective fire-resistant coating to properly protect the masonry and improve the safety and performance of the fireplace.
🏠 Our job this week is to correct these deficiencies and bring the chimney and venting system into compliance with the applicable safety and code requirements.
Once the work is completed, the chimney will be ready for the final inspection, allowing our customer to move forward with the sale of their home.
📸 Here are a few pictures from today's work.
This is a perfect example of why we always tell homeowners:
Don't wait until you're selling your home to find out there's a problem with your chimney.
A professional chimney and ventilation inspection can uncover problems that aren't visible from the outside — including:
🔥 Fire-safety concerns
☠️ Carbon monoxide and combustion-gas problems
🏠 Structural deterioration
💨 Improper or deteriorated venting
🧱 Damaged masonry and smoke chambers
⚠️ Code and safety issues
Find the problem. Fix the problem. Protect the home.
At High Tech Chimney & Ventilation, we make the process as simple as possible — from inspection and diagnosis through the necessary repairs.

🔥 HAPPY MONDAY, EVERYONE! 🔥
As August comes to a close, we're getting closer to that time of year when homeowners across the area will be turning on their heating systems and firing up their fireplaces.
Before you do, now is the time to make sure your chimneys, fireplaces, boilers, and ventilation systems are properly inspected and maintained. 🏠
Here are a few important areas every homeowner should be thinking about:
🔥 Fireplace & Chimney Inspections — Have your fireplace and chimney inspected and cleaned yearly before the first fire of the season.
♨️ Boiler & Heating-System Venting — Your boiler, furnace, and water heater rely on properly functioning venting systems to safely exhaust combustion gases from your home. Problems with these systems can create serious safety concerns, including carbon monoxide exposure.
🔥 Dryer Vent Cleaning — Dryer vents are another area that should never be overlooked. Lint buildup and restricted airflow can increase the risk of a dryer fire.
🔨 Necessary Repairs — Cracked masonry, deteriorated mortar, damaged chimney crowns, deteriorated liners, improper venting, and other problems should be addressed before the heating season gets underway.
The first step is simple: schedule your chimney and ventilation inspection. 📞
Once we arrive at your home 🏠 we'll walk you through the inspection process and explain what we find.
As one of our customers in Rye told us recently:
"This was one of the easiest things I've ever done in my home."
We were in and out in about 30 minutes. His fireplace simply needed an inspection and cleaning, and he is ready for the upcoming season.
Not every chimney needs major repairs. Sometimes, a professional inspection and cleaning is all that's needed.
With the wear and tear that chimneys and heating systems experience over the years, don't wait until you're ready to light that first fire to find out there's a problem.
🏠 WE MAKE THE WHOLE PROCESS SIMPLE.
At High Tech Chimney & Ventilation, we also work with a trusted consortium of experienced professionals when additional home repairs are needed — including:
🔨 Masonry
🏠 Roofing
💧 Plumbing
⚡ Electrical
🏗️ Builders

*One call can help simplify the entire process.

Homeowner Question of the Day 🏠

❓ When was the last time your chimney and venting system was actually inspected?
Not just looked at from the driveway? If the answer is “ I don’t remember” then it’s time for your inspection.

Not just when the heating system was serviced.

Not just after a leak appeared.

A proper evaluation can help identify issues involving:

🔥 Fire hazards.
☠️ Carbon monoxide and combustion-gas venting.
🧱 Structural masonry deterioration.
💧 Water intrusion.
🏗️ Damaged liners and vent components.
📋 Applicable safety and code requirements.

⁉️And remember — boiler and water-heater flues deserve attention too.

🏡 If your home has fuel-burning appliances, your chimney/venting system is an important part of how those appliances safely operate.

💬 Have a chimney or venting question? Ask it below. There are no stupid questions when it comes to keeping your home safe.

🔥 YOUR CHIMNEY MAY BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK

When most homeowners hear “chimney maintenance,” they think about the visible brick and mortar.

But some of the most important parts of your chimney are the parts you can't see.

Your chimney or venting system is responsible for safely carrying combustion gases from your heating equipment—including boilers, furnaces and water heaters—to the outside.

A blocked, damaged, deteriorated or improperly sized flue can interfere with that process and potentially allow dangerous combustion products, including carbon monoxide, to enter the home. This is especially important to a home that was built in the early part of the century (1900’s - 1960’s) where building materials and fire code standards were few.

That's why a professional inspection isn't simply about looking at the outside of the chimney.

It means evaluating the entire venting system and the condition of the flue.

🏠 3 reasons to have your chimney inspected:

🔥 Fire and code safety
☠️ Carbon monoxide protection
🏗️ Protecting the structural integrity of your chimney and venting.

🙏 Don't wait until you smell something, see a major crack, or have a heating problem.

Your chimney is a major part of your home's safety system.

Hello All,
We hope that everyone is enjoying their Summer!😎

As the colder 🌧️ months approach, now is the ideal time to ensure your chimney and ventilation systems are safe, clean, and ready for the heating season. A professional inspection before winter can help protect your home, your family, and your investment.

The Top 3 Reasons to Schedule Your Chimney & Ventilation Inspection Now:
1. Protect Your Family from Fire Hazards
Over time, creosote, soot, and debris build up inside chimneys. This buildup is highly flammable and is one of the leading causes of chimney fires. A thorough inspection can identify dangerous conditions before they become costly or life-threatening.
2. Ensure Safe Ventilation & Prevent Carbon Monoxide Risks
A blocked or damaged chimney or venting system can prevent harmful gases, including carbon monoxide, from venting properly. Our inspection helps ensure your fireplace, furnace, wood stove, or other heating appliances are operating safely and efficiently.

3. Avoid Costly Repairs & Winter Delays
Small cracks, damaged liners, loose masonry, or other issues are much easier and less expensive to repair before the heating season begins. Scheduling your inspection now also helps you avoid the rush and ensures your system is ready when you need it most.

Don't wait until the first cold day to discover a problem. A pre-season inspection provides peace of mind and helps keep your home warm, safe, and operating efficiently all winter long.

Thank you for trusting us with your home's safety. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you again.

Schedule your inspection today and enjoy the confidence of knowing your chimney and ventilation systems are winter-ready.

Sincerely,

Home buying or selling-Chimney inspections 🏠

Why Is a Chimney Inspection Important When Buying or Selling a Home?
A home is more than four walls and a roof – it’s a place where memories are made, and the safety of that space should always be a top priority. A chimney inspection plays a pivotal role in maintaining the safety of your home because chimneys can hide damage that isn’t visible to the untrained eye – from cracked flue liners and blockages to creosote buildup that poses a fire risk🔥These hidden issues can lead to costly repairs or even dangerous situations down the line. That’s why, whether you’re a buyer wanting peace of mind or a seller aiming for a smooth transaction, scheduling a thorough chimney inspection is a wise investment.
For buyers, a professional chimney inspection can reveal potential red flags before closing, giving you leverage for negotiations or time to reconsider your purchase. For sellers, an inspection provides a proactive opportunity to address any issues and present your home in the best possible condition, increasing buyer confidence and potentially speeding up the sale.
