I BELIEVE MOST OF OUR HOUSES COULD BE BETTER.

That’s because I see room for improvement in every house, from the pretty near-perfect to the downright rundown. For nearly three decades, I’ve built my practice on helping homeowners realize the full potential of the houses among which I grew up.

My approach is consistent: to provide one-of-a-kind designs for every project. In the spirit of collaboration, I work closely with you through the phases of your project, intently listening and carefully guiding you through your numerous decisions.

TOGETHER, WE WORK TOWARD YOUR UNIQUE VISION OF HOME.

A Look To The Past | A View Of The Present | An Eye Toward The Future

|| THINKING INSIDE THE BOX || Details, details: open floor plans need not forego architectural elements. ▪ Here, posts and beam differentiate living and dining rooms while encouraging free flow between rooms. ▪ For a coordinated ensemble, paneling is repeated from elsewhere in the house to provide a smart backdrop for the fireplace’s spiffy mantel.

A Look To The Past | A View Of The Present | An Eye Toward The Future

|| SITE UNSEEN || My clients bid au revoir to the French décor of the previous owner in favor of a streamlined backdrop for their furniture and artwork.▪ Instead of replacing disparate millwork elements, they were unified with a simple coat of paint the color of sea glass as a time- and cost-saving measure.

A Look To The Past | A View Of The Present | An Eye Toward The Future

|| SMALL PACKAGES || Go for the bold: add-a-levels on houses need not unceremoniously plop plain rectangular boxes atop first stories. ▪ Given two choices, my client chose the livelier approach, with a highly detailed shed dormer bumped out with bay windows connected by live edge siding like the garage’s gable. ▪ Shades of slate green with pops of red waved a vigorous goodbye to an all-white color scheme.

|| INTO THE LIGHT || For timeless appeal, match kitchen elements to details found throughout your old house.▪New crisp white paneled cabinets with arched glass fronts that reflect French doors in the adjoining entry hall are better dressed than old ratty dark pine cabinets. ▪True to form, a new lyrical lincrusta frieze crowns the walls to echo delicate original plasterwork while replacing old sour-note fake foam beams.
