Fall webworm is upon us! They are not a big deal as long as you keep them under control. This one was a little high in the crown of this apple tree for my customer to handle but I have my ways! 😉

I had a great couple of days in classes put on by the Nebraska Arborists Association in NE City! There was lots of great information, I connected with several peers in the industry and drove way too many miles. If you haven't been to NE City (home of Arbor Day!) it is a beautiful place and has many state record trees. 🌲

Dry conditions continue to put stress on Nebraska trees, especially in the western Panhandle, where exceptional drought persists. Prolonged drought can increase trees’ vulnerability to borers, bark beetles and diseases.

The latest Forest Health Report also highlights Emerald Ash Borer, which has now been detected in 20 Nebraska counties, along with several pests and diseases to watch for this summer, including Thyronectria canker, mimosa webworm, honeylocust spider mites, pine bark adelgid, woolly apple aphid and magnolia scale.

During dry periods, deep watering can help trees withstand stress and reduce their vulnerability to pests and disease.

😡 One of those days where a quick morning job turns into a day long job with the repairs needed. And... that's an end to this grind until it dries back out so I get to return for a second day. The joys of grinding stumps! 😁 Unknown main irrigation lines that are running right along the side of a tree trunk!? Sometimes I wonder if sprinkler guys do that on purpose. Maybe they were hiding in the bushes close by to laugh at me!? 🎻

Here is the final fell video of the utility line Ash tree removal. Nothing huge but it was dialed and dropped right where I wanted! Forgive me for not calling out "Timber!" 🤙

This unfortunate Ash tree was a victim of some failed water and sewer lines that ran right along its roots! With more than half of its roots severed from the plumbers during the repair process, the owners decided it should go since it was growing next to and over their home. Not an easy decision but probably the safest! Looks like I got it done just in time... Evening T storms with wind are hitting us as I type this out! I felled this one once I had it dialed down a little so watch for that video.
