We receive MANY calls from customers daily asking if we can “top” a tree for them…
Topping a tree is one of the most harmful pruning practices because it removes a large portion of the tree’s canopy, leaving it stressed and vulnerable. When a tree is topped, it loses many of the leaves it relies on to produce food through photosynthesis, which weakens its overall health. The large cuts created by topping also expose the tree to decay, disease, insect infestations, and sunscald. In response, the tree often produces numerous weakly attached shoots that grow rapidly but are more likely to break during storms, creating future safety hazards. Rather than controlling size or improving health, topping shortens a tree’s lifespan, increases maintenance needs, and permanently damages its natural shape and structure.
We do not and never will “top” a tree.
