🏛️ From Fine Furniture to Modern Living: The Story of 200 Adams Ave. Share this post 📫 ❤️

Ever walked past the corner of Adams and Spruce and wondered about the stories those walls could tell? The building at 200 Adams Ave. has been a cornerstone of downtown Scranton for over a century!

Here’s a quick trip down memory lane:

❤️ 1922–1923: The building was constructed as the grand home of Stoehr & Fister, which grew to become one of the largest furniture retailers in all of Pennsylvania. 🛋️
❤️ 1965: After decades of furnishing Scranton homes, the iconic retailer closed its doors.
❤️ 1971: A new chapter began when. Lackawanna County purchased the building, transforming it into the County Administration Building. For nearly 50 years, it was the heartbeat of local government. ⚖️
❤️ 2019: With the county moving to larger quarters into the iconic Globe Store, the structure was sold to developer Charles Jefferson, sparking a major downtown revival project.
❤️ Today: This historic gem has been beautifully redeveloped into a vibrant retail and residential space, blending 1920s architectural soul with a modern flare! ❤️ Join the Conversation!

We’d love to hear your Scranton stories:

1. Does anyone in your family still have a piece of furniture originally bought at Stoehr & Fister?
