Art Studio Classes are continuing this fall!

I’m excited to continue offering my art studio classes at in Moscow, PA @ Arabesque Academy of Dancing

Classes are open to all ages and skill levels! I focus on building real artistic skills while encouraging creativity and individual style. Throughout the year, students will explore drawing, painting, color theory, a range of materials, artistic techniques, and more.

Students can attend weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on their schedules. There is no requirement to commit to every Sunday.

90-minute classes
$30 per class

I’m also looking to gauge interest in adult art classes and workshops! If you’ve ever wanted to try painting, drawing, learn a new technique, or simply spend an evening creating, I’d love to hear from you. I’m open to offering adult-only workshops, seasonal projects, beginner classes, and other creative events based on interest.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about these young artists.

Over the past three weeks, we have learned, created, and grown together. While some students attended every session and others joined us whenever they could, every single one of them made incredible progress. From creating value scales to understanding texture, light, shadow, and form, these students advanced at a pace that has exceeded my expectations.

I included each student’s grade level in the photos because I think it’s remarkable to see what they accomplished. I challenged them with concepts that are often considered difficult for their ages, yet they listened to every lesson with such confidence. Watching them push through those challenges and surprise themselves has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

One of my own art teachers, Colleen Munley at Art School of NEPA taught me at a young age that if you can find the right way to teach something, students will learn, regardless of their age. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my own journey as both an artist and an educator, and these past few weeks have been a wonderful reminder of just how true it is.

A huge thank you to Amy at Arabesque Academy of Dancing for opening your doors and supporting this program. Your generosity has given these young artists a space to learn, create, and build confidence. Thank you as well to all of the parents for trusting me with your children and encouraging their creativity each week. Your support means more than you know.

Art Studio Classes return on August 9 as we begin our painting unit, and I cannot wait to create with everyone again!

Art Studio Classes encourage students to slow down, build observation and artistic skill, and discover that anyone can learn to draw with the right guidance. Through structured lessons and creative exploration, students build skills, confidence, and an appreciation for the creative process and the arts.

PROGRAM DETAILS
• Location: Arabesque Dance Studio

• 438 Blue Shutters Rd., Roaring Brook Twp, PA 18444

• Class Length: 90-minute sessions

• Class Size: Small groups for individualized instruction

• Schedule: Select Sundays, 9:00-10:30 AM or 11:00 AM-12:30 PM

• Cost: $30 per class

• Supply Kit: Optional one-time $25 art supply kit (or students may bring their own approved materials)

• Beginner-friendly while offering challenges for experienced artists regardless of age

What an amazing first day of art class at Arabesque Academy!

I had such a wonderful time creating with this amazing group of young artists today. It was so rewarding to see everyone jump right in, try new techniques, and grow their confidence. We focused on drawing techniques, foundational drawing skills, and how to use our drawing tools correctly. I couldn’t be happier with how our first class went.

Thank you to all of the parents for your support and for trusting me with your young artists. I’m so excited to continue building this program and watching everyone’s skills and confidence grow throughout the summer, and hopefully beyond!

Hello everyone, my name is Kasey Portanova, otherwise known as Miss. P. I have been the long-term art substitute for the Wallenpaupack Area North Primary since October 2025.

Teaching art at both the elementary and middle school levels has been one of the most rewarding experiences, and I have loved watching the students grow in their creativity, confidence, and artistic skills.

This summer, I am considering offering small-group art lessons for students interested in exploring a variety of artistic media and developing foundational art skills. Lessons would focus on creativity, foundation art skills, and building confidence while introducing students to drawing, painting, watercolor, colored pencil, mixed media, and other art techniques.

Proposed Program Details:

- Sunday art sessions throughout the summer
- 90-minute classes
- Small-group instruction
- Ages and skill levels grouped appropriately when possible
- Students may attend weekly, biweekly, or monthly
- Cost: $30 per session ($20/hour)
- Students may bring their own supplies. A recommended supply list will be provided prior to the start of classes.
- Families who prefer not to shop for materials may purchase a Summer Artist Supply Kit prepared by Miss Portanova for a one-time fee of $30.

At this time, I am simply looking to gauge interest. The final schedule, class location, and age groupings will be determined based on the number of interested families. Depending on enrollment, classes may be held at a local community space, library meeting room, pavilion, or other public location.

“Through the Years: Selected Works” — Kasey Portanova
First Friday | May 1, 2026 | Lost & Found Bookshop LLCI want to thank Kaylee at Lost and Found Bookshop for collaborating with me and allowing me to exhibit my work in her independent bookstore. If you haven’t been yet, please please please go check it out!! They are open Thursday through Sunday. My artwork will be on display (and available for purchase as prints and postcards) for the entire month of May if you didn’t get the chance to come to opening night!

Seeing my work, pieces I’ve created over the past 10 years, displayed together was a feeling I haven’t experienced in a long time. Some were made in high school, many in college, and each one represents a different moment in my growth as an artist. Bringing them all into one space gave me a real sense of accomplishment and new motivation.

For the first time in my life, I’m no longer an active student, but I’m proud to say I am a still active artist. And I’m excited to see what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support me. We had an amazing turnout, and I truly appreciate every single person who showed up. Your support doesn’t go unnoticed! Thank you for being part of this moment.
