With temps the next few days being at or below freezing for a high the last thing you want to worry or think about is frozen or broken pipes. Waking up to no heat or water is frustrating enough but finding where thoes lines have froze or broke is not a fun time either. Taking a few of these steps may help lessen your chances of these things happening to you.

❄️Avoid adjusting your thermostats during these cold days. Keeping a constant set temp will prevent drastic temperature fluctuations during the day and night.

❄️If you have pipes located in closets or cabinets leave doors cracked so the warm air can reach these areas and circulate around the exposed pipes.

❄️Let faucets drip. Running water has a lesser chance of freezing.

❄️Know where your shut off valves are. This is good practice even when the temps aren’t cold. In case of a freeze up knowing where shut offs are located gives you a quicker response time and hopefully prevents any major water damage.

❄️Remove hoses and turn off water to outside spigots. Leave spigot valves on so any water left in the line can drain and in case of a freeze the water can expand without causing a break. Remember to turn spigot valves back off once turing the water supply back on.
