A double-height living room, 10-foot ceilings, expansive glazing, and richly layered materials create a sense of openness and warmth throughout. Outside, deconstructed gable forms frame the entry and provide a vertical counterpoint to the long, low garage.

Designed for a narrow urban lot, the Courtyard House turns inward to create a private, south-facing outdoor room at the heart of the home. Wrapping the house around the courtyard fills the interior with natural light while providing privacy and year-round indoor-outdoor living.

LIGHT, VOLUME & CONNECTION

Sometimes the biggest transformations don't require adding square footage.

This 2,000 SF interior remodel completely reimagined the 1,145 SF main floor by removing low flat ceilings and introducing a vaulted ceiling that follows the roof above, creating a bright, open living space that feels dramatically larger.

The kitchen was relocated to become the heart of the home, seamlessly connecting to the living and dining areas. New windows and a wall of glass fill the interior with natural light while capturing filtered views of Lake Washington.

Thoughtful changes to the bedroom, office, and bathroom improved functionality without increasing the home's footprint, proving that great design is about making the most of the space you already have.
