The Washington State Emergency Management Division has tweeted out that a new study has modeled the impact of a magnitude ~7.5 earthquake on the Seattle Fault — with tsunami waves reaching the greater Seattle area within 3 minutes. You can find their press release, including a ZIP file to the study and maps here by tbe Washington Geological Survey (so not mobile friendly) https://www.dnr.wa.gov/news/new-study-details-impacts-tsunami-fault-running-through-seattle

There are mobile friendly JPGs of the inundation maps from the same WGS study on this site: https://mil.wa.gov/tsunami-resources

A swarm off the coast of Oregon that began this morning has now produced 11 earthquakes, including two M5.8s this hour, the largest in the sequence so far.

The distance from land makes these quakes unable to be felt.

Several tens of small earthquakes have occurred near the summit of Mount Hood at depths are 3-5 km (1.8-3.1 mi) below the surface. There is no change in volcanic activity. This earthquake swarm began late on Sunday October 17. So far, the largest magnitude was a M2.5. No earthquakes have been reported as felt. Swarms at this location and depth are common at Mount Hood, and do not indicate a change in the volcanic hazard. Past swarms have lasted several days to a couple of weeks.

This is a map of earthquake activity at Mount Hood. Earthquakes that are part of the current swarm are shown in red and sized by the magnitude of the earthquake. Colors from brown to blue show the "density" of earthquakes in the past decade, from low to high, respectively. Greens and blues are areas where most earthquakes are concentrated. The base map is a digital elevation model, with highways marked by dark lines. Yellow triangles are permanent seismic stations.

Greetings from the A-FFIX Retrofit bunker as we reopen for work. The governor has authorized us to return to work with proper precautions and appropriate social distancing.

Our construction team will begin work this week and we will be putting in place the strong work protocols needed to insure job and worker safety. We know everyone has not been released, but of all jobs, earthquake retrofit has got to be one of the safest in terms of worker and client relationship and distancing.

We will begin doing home inspections as soon as May 5th unless the general stay-at-home order is extended.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as, together, we have endured this time of mandatory sheltered isolation.

Continue to stay healthy and safe!

Seattle officials haven’t done their own analysis of the potential impacts, but researchers out of Portland have. The Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) looked at three counties — Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington — and assessed the potential destruction in a variety of scenarios.'

Here are two we like:
Red Cross: has an app that's all inclusive for emergency warnings like hurricane, tornado, or earthquake (this one's free)
Disaster Alert: the app will notify you of storms, volcanos, wildfire, earthquakes, floods and even droughts (this one's free)

You may have others you like, let us know what they are.
