Picardo Farm P-Patch

Picardo Farm P-Patch Seattle's Original P-Patch The land was once a bog, which was drained by the Picardo family in the 1920s and turned into rich farmland.

The original p-patch in Seattle, this garden contains 281 plots, on 2 and a quarter acres, and is gardened by local community members. The land was farmed until the 1960's. At that time a neighbor brought teachers, parents and students from Wedgwood Elementary to the land and began gardening for the local food bank programs. Out of this initiative the P-Patch program in Seattle was born.
