Designing this forever home meant creating spaces that can evolve for generations while responding to the unique topography and features of the land.

Our latest project, Olomana Sunrise Farm, is a natural modern Hawaiian home on a lush two-acre property in Olomana Heights. The orientation is carefully designed to capture trifecta views of Waimanalo Bay makai (toward the ocean) and the Ko’olau range with Olomana Ridge mauka (toward the mountains).

The heart of the home is a gathering space where the family can make meals together using fresh fruits, veggies, and local staples like kalo (taro) and uala (sweet potato) farmed right on their land. Expansive glass frames the mountain views, bringing the landscape right into the living room.

Designing this forever home meant creating spaces that can evolve for generations while responding to the unique topography and features of the land.

While in Hawaii last week, we stopped by our clients' Camp Ahiki Residence on the windward side of Oahu. Construction had just wrapped up when we last visited in early 2020 and wow, have things changed! The addition of the pool and lush landscaping create a more intimate gathering space within the larger neighborhood. It was so fun to see our clients really living in their home. When we returned, we found a few early conceptual sketches from 2016. It really is a journey.
