There’s a big difference between resurfacing an old deck and rebuilding it correctly from the structure up.

This Seattle, WA project is a complete deck replacement, including the planning and permitting process.

Intercrus Decks prepared the project drafting and deck plans and handled the permit application before construction.

The existing cantilevered structure is being removed and replaced with new poured concrete footings, pressure-treated 6×6 support posts and a completely new pressure-treated deck frame with 12" O.C. joist spacing.

For the finished surface, the project calls for approximately 521 SF of TimberTech AZEK PVC decking — a premium full-PVC material selected for moisture, fade and stain resistance. The deck will feature hidden fasteners, picture-frame detailing and matching AZEK fascia.

The project also includes approximately 56 SF of new stairs with 14 steps and approximately 94 LF of TimberTech IRX aluminum picket railings in a black powder-coated finish.

The goal isn't simply to make an old deck look new. It is to replace the underlying structure and create an outdoor space designed for long-term use in the Pacific Northwest.

A deck becomes a completely different project when the backyard has multiple elevations.

This Normandy Park, WA project was designed as an interconnected outdoor living system rather than a single rectangular deck.

Approximately 948 SF of MoistureShield Elevate composite decking spans the upper, lower and second-side deck areas and their landings. Multiple stair systems connect the different elevations, while a dedicated spiral staircase provides another connection to the second floor. Approximately 226 LF of TimberTech IRX aluminum railing completes the perimeter with a clean black powder-coated finish.

Even the lower portion of the structure is part of the design: finished under-deck skirting gives the base of the deck a much cleaner architectural appearance.
