A classic kitchen is a timeless, functional space characterized by natural color palettes (whites, creams, grey) and a few design elements worth mentioning. Custom inset face frame cabinetry, scalloped pattern backsplash, convenient appliance garage, charging drawer and a built in pantry. The space is not only charming, but extremely user-friendly. The space was designed and built for a couple of wine dealers who entertain often and love to chef it up! This one is a winner! ,

What makes a home “Craftsman”? It’s more than a style, it’s a philosophy.

Rooted in the early 20th-century Arts & Crafts movement, Craftsman homes prioritize simplicity, natural materials, and hand-crafted detail over mass production.

- Open Baluster staircase with custom Newel posts

This home tells a story of vision, patience, and craftsmanship.

The Burbacks moved into this 100-year-old house in 2007. With two growing kids and a layout full of quirks (like an upstairs space accessed through an old closet), they knew the home had potential - but it needed more than just updates.
What started as a desire for more usable space became a complete transformation.

They partnered with VCG to take on everything: architectural planning, historic preservation, and modern expansion. All through a hands-on design-build process.
From restoring original leaded glass windows and French doors…to wrapping drop-down beams in VG fir…to custom walnut built-ins and a full footprint expansion supported by the new foundation. This was a true collaboration built on shared vision and craft.

More of the story is coming this month, but for now this is what it looks like when a home becomes everything you dreamed it could be.

What a transformation.

We went from a charming, but challenging (100+ year old foundation!), craftsman style family home to a fully reimagined space built for the next chapter. We've gone all out!

From a full house-lift with a new foundation to incorporating standout craftsman design details. The goal was to honor the original character of the house while also making some bold and exciting changes with all the modern amenities.

The Wicks project was all about transforming the exterior into a functional, beautiful extension of the home. From the built-in grilling kitchen to the striking hardscape layout, every element was designed for both utility and style.

A standout feature? The custom grape-slat fence, sourced in bundles and pieced together for a layered, organic texture you won’t find in off-the-shelf builds. Add to that a precision-cut Ipe deck with bold geometry and a hand-built arched gate forged in our shop, and you’ve got a backyard built for both weekend lounging and serious summer hosting.
