Kicking off the season with a boom. 💥💙💚
With another Seahawks season kicking off next week, we’re looking back at where the story of Lumen Field began.
On March 26, 2000, the Kingdome came down in just 16.8 seconds, making way for the stadium Turner would build in its place.
But much of the Kingdome didn’t go far. The project recycled 96% of construction and demolition waste, including approximately 50,000 tons of concrete that was crushed and reused onsite beneath the new stadium.
More than two decades later, reducing waste and the environmental impact of how we build remains an important part of Turner’s sustainability commitment.
And right here in Seattle, a little piece of our sports history still lives beneath the field.
Go Hawks! 💙💚
