🌈 Happy Pride Month!
Pride means something different to everyone. Growing up q***r, I often felt like I didn’t fit in and I spent a lot of years feeling like I was on the outside looking in, wondering where I belonged. I didn’t see many people like me in the spaces I occupied, and I certainly didn’t see many people like me in construction.
So I built my own place.
When I founded La Matriarca Woodworkings, I wanted more than a successful business. I wanted to create a company where people felt welcome, respected, and valued for exactly who they are and exactly where they are. A place where q***r people could show up as themselves. A place where women in the trades could thrive. A place where families of all kinds felt comfortable inviting us into their homes.
Today, I’m proud that we’ve employed multiple LGBTQ+ team members, worked with q***r families throughout our community, and helped create spaces where people can make memories, gather with loved ones, and simply be themselves.
Representation matters. Belonging matters.
To every young q***r person who feels like they don’t fit the mold: sometimes the answer isn’t finding a seat at the table. Sometimes it’s building your own table.
