Did you know that there are approximately 3,000 spider species in North America?🤯🕷️🕸️ That number may seem daunting, but out of those, there are only 2 species of spiders that can cause serious harm: the black widow and the brown recluse.

These spiders are very dangerous, and infestations should be left to the pest control professionals. Our latest General Household Pest (GHP) Technician Meeting was full of great information and group discussions. We talked about optimal Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices in pest control, new products and how to best utilize them, and we had an open discussion about challenges and solutions that the GHP team are facing in the field.

Another month, another great Sandpiper Safety Meeting! Our core value focus for May is the quality of integrity. At Sandpiper Pest Control, we are committed to our moral principles and always doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. 🙂🤝⚖️

For the safety-focused aspect of our meeting, we had a hands-on demonstration and practice of proper spill clean up protocol. We also had a discussion about the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used when on rodent service calls.👷✔️🐀

Another great year in the books for Sandpiper Pest Control at the Southeast Pest Management Conference!☀️🌴🐜

We always value this special opportunity where we are able to learn directly from pest control industry leaders as we continue our pest management education. It is also a pleasure to have the opportunity to network and connect with other pest control professionals in our region as well as to reconnect with old friends in the industry!

From learning about new discoveries in the pest control world to enjoying everyone’s company at the delicious Sapp-Walkup TailGATOR Dinner, we enjoyed every minute! We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!🌴🐊🐜

Proper pest identification is a critical part of effective pest control. One commonly confused set of pests includes flying ants and termites. As we are in the midst of termite swarming season, it is more crucial than ever to take the steps to accurately identify any winged pests you may find in your home!

Pictured above is a winged ant. Notice some key characteristics that distinguish flying ants from termites such as:
- A narrow, pinched waist
- A body with a distinct three-segmented structure
- Unequal wing sizes, with large wings in the front and smaller in the back
