This is a question worth asking...

February is your last chance to get these plants in the ground before it's too late.

Fruit tree pruning only works when timing matches the type of tree. Cut at the wrong time and you lose fruit or invite disease.
🌳 The simple split:
Pome fruits = prune in deep winter
Stone fruits = prune later, near spring
❄️ Prune in mid-winter (January–February):
• Apples: Remove dead, crossing, and vertical shoots. Keep the center open for light and air.
• Pears: Prune lightly. Heavy cuts trigger disease-prone growth.
• Quince: Similar to pears. Moderate thinning improves fruiting.
🌸 Prune late winter to early spring (February–March):
• Peaches & Nectarines: Prune hard every year. Fruit grows on last year’s wood only. Keep an open vase shape.
• Plums: Light for European types, heavier shaping for Japanese types.
• Cherries: Minimal pruning for sweet types, more for sour types. Always prune in dry weather.
• Apricots: Very disease sensitive. Prune lightly and only during dry periods.
🌿 Tree shape matters:
Central leader (apples, pears, cherries) = one main trunk
Open vase (peaches, nectarines, many plums) = open center for sun and airflow
✂️ Young trees:
First 2–3 years focus on strong branch structure, not heavy fruiting. Good shape now means bigger harvests later.
Right timing = healthier trees + better fruit 🍎🍑🌿✂️

Regenerating Land = Increasing Property Value
I’ve spent 30+ years helping landowners restore soil, improve water retention, and create long-term productive landscapes. Many people don’t realize that proper land management doesn’t just benefit the environment—it increases land value, improves drought resilience, and reduces costly maintenance.

If you own land and want a strategy to make it more resilient and valuable, let’s connect. I’m offering a few free 15-minute calls this week to serious landowners looking to improve their property.

Drop a comment or DM me if you’re interested.
