Building a composite ramp and showing how I secure the last decking board where the ramp meets the concrete pad. I make custom 5/8" plugs from the same decking, drill through the board and into the concrete, then secure it with a 1/4" blue concrete anchor. Clean installation with no visible fasteners.

No Picture Frame — Custom PT Deck + Composite Stair Treads

This project was built based on the customer’s specific request. The main deck and stair framing were built with pressure-treated lumber, while the customer chose Trex Island Mist composite decking for the stair treads.
Since there were only three steps, the customer did not want a picture-frame border around the treads. Instead, we cut the Trex boards flush, carefully rounded the exposed edges with a router, sanded them smooth, and finished the exposed ends with a color-matched coating to create a clean, finished appearance.
Sometimes a simple detail can completely change the finished look. This was a custom solution based on the design and materials the customer wanted.

No track saw guide? No problem.

I used a PVC trim board as a straight edge and made a clean, accurate cut with a regular circular saw. Sometimes simple solutions work just as well.

Every deck is different, and sometimes the last board has to be ripped to make the layout work. There are a few different ways to handle it.
