Our Hero of the Week this week is Wayne Cannon. Wayne began his service in the United
States Marine Corps at MCRD San Diego in June 1976. After completing recruit training, he continued his training at Camp Pendleton before serving at NAD Hawthorne, Nevada, from December 1976 to October 1977.
He later served with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, from November 1977 to November 1978. Corporal Cannon completed his Marine Corps service with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, serving there until June 1979. Thank you for your service!

Our Hero of the Week is Olda Cannon. Olda joined the United States Air Force in 2005 as a dental technician, but her journey to military service began long before she raised her right hand. She overcame many challenges to reach that moment and demonstrated the perseverance, discipline, and determination that would define her entire career. While working full time, Olda continued her education and earned a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University. She was stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base, where she quickly distinguished herself through her professionalism, work ethic, military bearing, and dedication to excellence. Her outstanding performance earned her numerous awards and recognitions throughout her active-duty service. After five years of active duty and the birth of our first child, Olda transitioned into the Arkansas Air National Guard, serving in Knowledge Operations Management. During this time, she welcomed two more children while continuing to meet the demanding standards of military service. She consistently maintained physical fitness scores above 90 percent, successfully completed multiple inspections with zero findings, and was promoted ahead of many of her peers. In 2016, Olda and our family moved to Naylor, Missouri, to begin a new chapter as commercial poultry farmers. She transferred to the Missouri Air National Guard and returned to her original Air Force career field as a dental technician. Her leadership, professionalism, and commitment to mission readiness ultimately led to her promotion to the rank of E-7, Master Sergeant.
In her final years of service, Olda made deployment readiness a top priority, consistently maintaining readiness rates above 95 percent among the Airmen and patients entrusted to her care. Her supervisors recognized her exceptional leadership and offered her opportunities to remain in service and continue advancing. However, after faithfully serving for 20 years, Olda chose to prioritize her family and retired from the United States Air Force in 2025.
Her story is a remarkable example of the American spirit. From immigrating to the United States and becoming an American citizen to completing 20 honorable years of military service, Olda has consistently demonstrated integrity, service before self, and excellence in all she does. Although she has retired from military service, her commitment to serving others continues. Olda and our family have now been called to serve as missionaries in Vicenza, Italy, where we will minister to the local community and to American military families connected with the Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade. Even in retirement, she will continue mentoring, encouraging, and serving military members and their families overseas. Today, we honor and thank Master Sergeant Olda Cannon for her 20 years of faithful service, her personal sacrifices, and her unwavering devotion to her family, her fellow service members, and her chosen nation—the United States of America.

Our Hero of the Week, Cody B. Thomas! He is currently employed with us here at Wright Angle Construction and we are super proud of him and his dedication!

He enlisted in the Army Reserves 02/19/2010 at MEPS in Kansas City, MO. After completing junior year at Seymour High School left for Fort Jackson, South Carolina to start Basic Combat Training. Upon completion of BCT came back to finish high school as a reservist stationed out of Harrison, Arkansas. After completing high school, left for Advanced Individual Training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Upon completion of AIT left for Vehicle Recovery School in Fort Lee, Virginia. After completing these Military Occupational Specialty qualifications started full reserve duty in Harrison, Arkansas as a wheeled vehicle mechanic specializing in vehicle recovery (91BH8). Additional training is Case Skid Steer loader operator and maintainers course in Detroit, Michigan, Combat Lifesaver course in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, and MRAP Recovery training at Red River Army Depot, TX. Always volunteered to be part of the setup party to aid in any vehicle recovery during unit transportation exercises for field training. End of enlistment was 02/19/2018. Thank you for your service!

Hero of the Week this week is Brian Cannon! MSgt Brian Cannon began his Air Force career in 2003 as a hydraulic craftsman at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. In 2008, he was selected to serve as a Military Training Instructor with the 314th Training Squadron at Lackland AFB, Texas. After completing active duty in 2010, Brian continued serving with the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing, cross-training as a C-130H Flight Engineer. He served as an Active Guard Reserve Flight Engineer, FE instructor with
the 154th Training Squadron, and deployed in
support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In 2014, MSgt Cannon made the difficult
decision to step away from the military and
sacrifice his opportunity for retirement so he
could move his family to Naylor, Missouri, where they built and continue to operate an eight-house poultry farm. Thank you for your service!

Introducing our HERO of the week, Staff Sergeant Chandler J. E. Bonham: Enlisted in the Army National Guard in April 2010 after graduating high school from Lutie High in Theodosia, MO, and was sent to Fort Jackson, SC, for Basic Training. He initially enlisted as a 92F Petroleum supply specialist and reclassed to 15T UH-60 Helicopter Repairer in December of 2014.
In 2016, he met the love of his life, Katie Kramme. They are now married and have been since spring of 2018.
In 2018, one month after his wedding, he deployed with the 935th Aviation Support Battalion to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve as a UH-60 Technical Inspector. He is currently serving with the 1107th Aviation Group in Springfield, MO.
In 2025, he and his wife adopted their first child, Preston, and less than a year later, they adopted their daughter Kiara. His greatest love is our Lord Jesus Christ, second is his family, and third, his love for fast cars! When he is not working on Blackhawks during the day, he is usually at home turning a wrench on his 1970 Chevelle, 1972 Cheyenne, or is playing ball with the kids. What little spare time he has, he strives to spend with his extended family or at the lake. Thank you for your service!

Introducing our Hero of the Week, Josh Hamilton. Master Sergeant Hamilton! He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from
Springfield, Missouri in February of 2004. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon graduation, Private First Class Hamilton was assigned the MOS 6100, Aviation Mechanic. In June 2004, Private First Class Hamilton reported to the Center for Naval
Aviation Technical Training, where he attended and completed class curriculum for a 6113 CH-53E Mechanic. In September 2004, Private First Class Hamilton reported to HMH-769 at Edwards
Air Force Base, CA where he served as a CH-53E flight line mechanic and was promoted to Lance Corporal in November 2004.
In May 2006, Lance Corporal Hamilton reported to HMH-462 at MCAS Miramar, CA where he served as a CH-53E plane captain and flight line mechanic. He was promoted to Corporal in November 2006 and deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) where he served as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI). Upon his return, Corporal Hamilton checked into HMH-465 and served as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) and
Quality Assurance Representative (QAR). He was promoted to Sergeant in January 2009. While with HMH-465, Sergeant
Hamilton deployed with the 31st MEU and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom. In November 2011, Sergeant Hamilton reported to the HMX-1 at Quantico, VA. Upon checking into the flight line division, Sergeant Hamilton served as a VH-60N plane captain and CDQAR. In February 2014, Staff Sergeant Hamilton transferred to the Quality Assurance Division where he served as a full systems QAR on the VH-60N, VH-3D and Trip Leader. In April 2016, Staff Sergeant Hamilton reported back to HMH-465 at MCAS Miramar, CA. Staff Sergeant Hamilton served as
the flight line division chief during a Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan. In July 2018, Staff Sergeant Hamilton was
promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and served as the SNCOIC for the 11th MEU. Upon returning from the 11th MEU,
Gunnery Sergeant served as the flightline division chief and participated in another Unit Deployment Program. In April 2022,
Gunnery Sergeant Hamilton chopped to VMM-362 where he served as the 13 TH MEU SNCOIC. In March 2024, Master Sergeant Hamilton checked into MALS-16 where he served as the Powerplants division chief. Master Sergeant Hamilton then reported to VMM-163 in January 2025 where he currently serves as the maintenance control chief for the 11th MEU aboard the USS Boxer. Master Sergeant Hamilton’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of third award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of second award). He is married to the former Avigel Paule of San Diego, CA. They have one son, Ethan. Thank you for your service!

Introducing our HERO of the week.....Kassy Strickland! She enlisted in the Navy directly after graduation from Fulton High School. She attended boot camp in Chicago area before having her first duty location in Okinawa, Japan. She returned state side to Lemoore, CA before deciding to get her Nursing degree at Missouri State University. She continued her career as an officer which included locations of Beaufort, SC, Kansas City, MO (she was recognized as the officer recruiter of the year), Portsmouth, VA, and Pensacola FL before finishing her career back in Japan being stationed in Iwakuni. She served for 22 years and earned a Masters Degree in Public Health in addition to her Nursing degree. She is a wonderful wife, parent to 3 great kids Mady 22, Austin 15 and Savannah 12 and a couple of doodles. Kassy is currently working at the VA in Springfield, MO serving the veteran community. Strong Christian woman who is beautiful inside and out. Thank you for your service!
