There is a new scam hitting the business community. They are calling companies that had received a PPP Loan during the pandemic and telling them that they missed a court date in reference to that PPP loan. The phone number is showing up as the "Sheriff's Office". However, IT IS NOT THE TRUE SHERIFF'S OFFICE! They are threatening business owners into paying a bond of 10% of whatever their PPP LOAN was. They are stating that the warrant is from FBI since it is from the Federal Government. They also send you documents that look legit from the FBI and the courts with your names on them.
The real SHERIFF'S Office will not ask for money on the phone even to keep you from having to come to the office.) Civil Bonds will be handled in court. Not by the officer! If anyone ask you to stay on the line not to hang up for any reason or excuse(redflag). Asking you for money(big redflag)! While they have you on the phone call the real sheriff's office and verify. Then hang up! Don't continue to engage. People are too lazy to work an honest job for an honest wage. So they will scam money from others who will work hard. I'm praying for our community.
