Happy Friday! Unless you suffer from Triskaidekaphobia..

The fear of the number 13 has lead to some interesting choices in architecture, lots of skyscrapers "skip" over the 13th floor.

Thankfully we focus primarily on custom homes & cabins and are limited to a maximum of 35' in overall height (in Wisconsin). Also here at CDS we aren't superstitious, we're just a little-stitious.

The time has come to consider adding to the team! We’re looking for an experienced drafter or designer proficient in AutoCAD, on a per job/phase basis. Initially as an independent contractor potentially developing into full-time work for the right individual.

As you may know, we’re a small residential design firm in Northern Wisconsin that has been in business for 6 years now and have over 350 custom projects in the works!

TJ and I have more work than we know what to do with and we want to make sure we can continue to provide our services as efficiently as possible, without compromising quality. We would cover your CAD “seat” as well as the CAD standards library we’ve developed over the years.

Hybrid or remote, no sales, no micromanagement. Compensation per project & phase of design.

Happy Friday, we have some bittersweet news today, due to the warm spring like temperatures, road bans go on at noon today. The thawing soil beneath our roadways makes them more susceptible to damage. You may have already seen "boils" or water creeping up through cracks in the road.

Happy Friday! Here at CDS we’re so proud to call Shell Lake home.

In a small town a school really becomes much more than a place of learning but a gathering place for community through triumphs and tragedies.

Cody’s Design Shoppe has graduated 3 bright young ladies out of
School District of Shell Lake in a little over 5 years. Not only are we proud parents of these graduates but also continue to enjoy the successes of current students in the Shell Lake School District.

I personally volunteer many hours to different organizations in the school district and love the opportunity to give back. The students at Shell Lake High School are welcoming and eager to learn as well as share their knowledge.

Little known fact, I grew up extremely poor in a small school, if it wasn't for a few teachers that could see the potential in me that I couldn’t… well, gosh knows where I would be today. I was the first in my family to attend any sort of college (tech school for an associate degree)! Without tech. ed. classes my path wouldn’t have led me to where I am today. Also being able to participate in extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, etc.) helped build life long friendships & connections as well as solidified a hard work ethic.

One thing I know for certain is you can’t build anything without a strong foundation, a robust education is how these young adults will be able to build a strong future. Without some of the opportunities public school offers, students wouldn’t be able to obtain a solid education and grow to be well rounded adults. Shell Lake School District offers many great programs such as CTE classes, extracurricular activities, and diverse electives. A lot of these programs have shown great success over the years. Through hard work and dedication these Shell Lake students have shown success at the state level in many programs.

I finally took sometime to get outside and enjoy winter via snowmobile last weekend. I had to take a moment to snap a picture of one of our very first projects from the unique perspective of frozen water.

This spring I was asked if I could work up a concept drawing for a new structure at the Washburn County Fairgrounds. I didn't realize it had been built until I visited the Spooner Farmers Market last Saturday.

Handy Hershey Inc does some pretty amazing work!

The Spooner Farmers Market is running tomorrow if you want to see the building for yourself and get some locally grown produce!
