Eryngium - After 3 years I finally have blooms! I'm still figuring out the harvest timing, but it is really pretty. It's a bit pokey, but the bees LOVE it!

I found Eryngium easy to start from seed, but it did not like the large container I had it in. I initially thought the container because it supposedly prefers dry soil... That was not the case for me. It only grew to about 12" and never bloomed.

I turned one of my beds into a perennial bed last fall and moved my 3 Eryngium plants. They came up great this spring and thankfully bloomed, despite getting a double dose of water from my drip lines and sprinkler over spray. Who knew. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The blooms are quite heavy, so support is needed. I'm excited to see how they dry.

ORANGE: Maarn & Valley Rust Bucket. 🧡

Two dahlias every one needs for that vibrant and classic shade of orange! Both are great workhorses for the cutting garden. The amount of blooms that come from Valley Rust Bucket is insane. I'll always have both on my dahlia patch.

This dahlia is a bit more vibrant than I usually go for... But I had tons of photos of it by the end of the season. So I must've liked it!

I only had the mother tuber survive storage. But it's firm and plump, so I'm hopeful I'll get to see this red beauty again this year.
