Architecture often starts with a sketch—but not every sketch is a building waiting to be built.

Sometimes it’s the beginning of an idea, a way to explore form and space, or simply a creative outlet that sparks inspiration for something down the road.

Architecture is technical, but there’s always an art to it.

Back-to-school season is here!

From gym floor remodels and playgrounds to interior renovations, exterior improvements, and ground-up school design, we’re proud to help create spaces where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

Wishing students, teachers, and staff a great school year ahead!

Interior design goes hand-in-hand with architectural design. It’s a continuous process of thinking about the language of a building and how a space will look, feel, and function for the people who use it.

That process begins early—considering finishes like wood treatments, carpet, casework, and paint colors—and continues through selecting the furniture and fixtures that occupy a space just before people do.

The Wyoming Girls’ School has been an especially intentional project because of the environment it is designed to support. With a mission centered around providing therapeutic and educational services in a safe, nurturing, and trauma-responsive setting, we incorporated trauma-informed design principles throughout the interiors. Calming and subdued colors, natural materials, biophilic patterns, and thoughtfully selected finishes help create an environment that feels safe and secure while also warm and welcoming.

We’ve already had the opportunity to see some of these interior elements take shape, and we’re excited for the final layer—furniture—to arrive at the end of this year and bring the full vision together.

From rendering to reality.

Early in the visioning process for Sheridan Community Land Trust, we had the opportunity to create conceptual renderings that helped bring the team’s ideas for the space into view.

Working from a vision already established by the director and staff, our renderings explored the potential of the space and provided a visual tool that could be shared with others during fundraising efforts.

Today, that vision is a reality — and the finished space came together even better than we imagined.

Swipe though the progression from our early conceptual renderings to the Welcome Center as it exists today, beautifully captured by Jessica Ross.

There’s something special about seeing an idea on the screen become a real place for people and community.

Not every milestone in architecture is picture-perfect—and that’s what makes this stage so rewarding.

Long before the ribbon cutting, countless hours are spent reviewing submittals, answering questions, visiting the job site, coordinating with the construction team, and making sure every detail comes together as intended. It’s the part of architecture most people never see, but it’s where a project truly begins to take shape.

At the Wyoming Girls School, it’s exciting to see that transformation happening in real time. On the exterior, the brick veneer and metal siding are bringing the building’s character to life, while the glulam beams—currently protected during construction—hint at the architectural detailing that will eventually frame the entrances. Inside, paint is on the walls, casework is being installed, and tile is being laid, making each space feel a little closer to completion.

A big thank you to Groathouse Construction, Inc. for the outstanding work and partnership throughout the construction process. Your team’s craftsmanship and dedication are evident in every step, and we can’t wait to share more progress as this project continues to come to life.

We’re excited to have a familiar face back in the office!

After interning with us last summer, Logan Gilbertz has returned to QC10, and this time we’re lucky to have him with us through December.

Logan is an architecture student at Montana State University and was recently recognized by AIA Wyoming as a recipient of the AIA Wyoming AEF 2026-27 Scholarship for the second consecutive year — an incredible honor that reflects his dedication, talent, and hard work. His creativity, attention to detail, and willingness to take on any challenge are evident in both his studio work and the projects he contributes to around the office.

When he’s not designing, you’ll likely find him climbing, hiking, fishing, or behind the camera capturing breathtaking landscapes from his adventures across the West.

Please join us in welcoming Logan back to the team — we’re thrilled to have him with us a little longer!

Meet our summer intern, Ella Neskora!

Originally from Texas, Ella is currently studying architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and has spent the summer gaining experience with our team at QC10. From day one, she’s been eager to jump into every project that comes her way, taking on new challenges and learning new skills with enthusiasm.

Beyond architecture, Ella is an accomplished collegiate hammer thrower. Over the past couple of weeks, she’s been representing her sport in a competition in Europe, and we’ve been cheering her on all the way from Wyoming!

Ella’s intelligence, curiosity, and positive energy have made her a wonderful addition to our office. Her fun, vivacious personality has brightened our days, and while we’re excited to see all she accomplishes, we’ll definitely miss having her around when she heads back to Pennsylvania.

Thank you for spending your summer with us, Ella — we’re so glad you get to be a part of the QC10 team!

Celebrating Ucross: A Ribbon Cutting and New Chapter for the Big Red Ranch House

QC10 Architects was honored to join the Ucross Foundation, Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, and the broader community for the ribbon cutting celebrating the renovation and reopening of the historic Big Red Ranch House.

The event marked an exciting milestone for this beloved Wyoming landmark, honoring its history and its continued role as the heart of Ucross, a place where artists, staff, residents, and visitors gather, create, and find inspiration.

Set within the remarkable High Plains landscape, Ucross is a place where architecture and environment are deeply connected. The renovation honors that relationship by preserving the character of the Ranch House while supporting its continued use for the people and creative work it serves. Through thoughtful preservation, the architecture remains rooted in its setting and respectful of the land, the views, and the quiet beauty that define Ucross.

The celebration brought people together in true Ucross spirit, with a wonderful selection of food, live music, and the opportunity to tour the renovated space, including the newly furnished offices. It was a memorable chance to experience the project firsthand and see how the Ranch House has been carefully renewed for the future.
We were especially grateful for the special mention and acknowledgement of QC10 Principal Thane Magelky and Interior Designer Ann Borsheim, whose leadership and design contributions helped guide this meaningful renovation.

Congratulations to on this milestone. We’re honored to have been part of the team.

This Earth Day, QC10 Architects is taking a moment to reflect on what sustainability means to our firm. For us, it is a continuous approach to how we design and build, guiding decisions from the earliest concepts through long-term performance, with a focus on creating spaces that are both resilient and responsible.

Our approach includes:
• Designing buildings that perform efficiently over time
• Prioritizing durable, low-impact materials that support longevity
• Creating outdoor spaces that strengthen both community and ecology
• Maximizing resource efficiency and life cycle continuity

We believe sustainability isn’t defined by a single moment or milestone — lasting design starts with everyday choices.

Shoutout to our talented intern Logan Gilbertz for the beautiful photo.
