General Job Description:

This driving position is responsible for safe and efficient deliveries in El Dorado and surrounding counties. Doug Veerkamp General Engineering operates a fleet of over 50 heavy duty trucks, comprised of Ten Wheelers, Super 10 dump trucks, water trucks, lowbed trucks, end dump trucks and Transfer Dump Trucks. We pride ourselves not only on providing excellent service within our company, but to our outside customers as well. Drivers will be required to be able to perform a thorough pre and post trip inspection, as well as all the necessary paperwork.
Traffic laws and DOT regulations must be and will be strictly enforced as well as Safety PPE. Founded in 1983, Doug Veerkamp General Engineering has built a reputation for class and well as efficiency, all drivers are expected to be stewards of this legacy.
Many opportunities are available for overtime and weekend work. Doug Veerkamp General Engineering is always ready to provide quick response for emergency repairs on and off the roadway.

Salary range: $25/hr. - $40/hr.

Requirements:

Minimum Job Qualifications:
• 18 Years of age
• Class A CDL with manual transmission, and 5th wheel towing
• Drivers’ history report must be provided
• Transfer dump trained
• Minimum of 2 years driving experience
• Must have the ability to safely navigate El Dorado and surrounding counties to deliver to jobsites and outside customers.
• Drug/ alcohol screening required before employment.
• Make it to work on time

General Job Description:

This position is responsible for the diagnosis and repair of heavy equipment in the field. While the machines out on job sites are the number one priority of this position, techs are expected to be able to repair multiple different machines and trucks both during operation and during down time. Our fleet ranges from small power equipment to pickups and upwards but not limited to 18-wheel tractor trailer combinations. Equipment at the shop or on the job site ranges from a mini excavator to D9 size dozers. Techs must have all the required tools to complete the repair on site. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can prioritize a list of multiple repairs.

Techs must have experience with multiple diagnosing tools, power probes, multimeter, test lights etc. Multiple software programs are used in house including; Cummins Insite, Quickserv, Ford/Motorcraft IDS and FDRS, Caterpillar ET, ESA, Bendix ABS, and more.

Doug Veerkamp General Engineering takes a lot of pride in making sure our own fleet is ready to go at any given time. Techs have the responsibility of making sure repairs are done to the highest standard. High attention to detail is required to make sure our team can rely on their equipment to get the job done.

Salary range: $35/hr. - $60/hr.

• Class B commercial driver’s license
• Drivers’ history report must be provided
• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience
• Must have tools needed to perform tasks at hand (specialty tools provided)
• Must have crane experience
• Drug/ alcohol screening required before employment.

This position is responsible for all welding/fabrication projects within the company. Our reputation for having the ability to weld and fabricate whatever project comes our way has led to job completion with a product that is unmatched. The shop provides maintenance welding on our own fleet to keep our equipment running to the highest standard. But we have no boundaries! Over the years projects completed by the weld shop include custom hand rails, a 40’ cross, custom bathroom enclosures for the Rubicon trail, shade structures for Forest Service campgrounds, the list goes on and our product speaks for itself.

While welding and fabricating is your main daily task, this position requires an understanding of metallurgy. Many things come into play when making sure the right tool and material is used for the job. This understanding helps maintain efficiency and ensures providing a quality product to our customers.
