Every piece of flagstone starts out as massive slabs of ston, that are harvested & trucked in from the mountains of Oklahoma & Tennessee. It is brought into the quarry where it is then broken into smaller pieces by hand, & stacked on palettes to be used to build hardscaping projects. Finish grading ups your game on surface water runoff & water problem prevention. After the whole area has been prepped it's not finished yet!
Whether it's sod, foundation flowerbeds, walkways, or a patio like this one. It's super important to take the extra time to grade or rake a slope in 2 directions. And to check it with a good 4' 8' or 12' level across & away from the structures, pools, & pavement areas.

You're going to want to build these hardscape areas like they are going to stand the test of time. I like the bubble to be sitting all the way back on the level, but not so much slope your drink is falling off the table. I always give my walkways & patios a nice, thick 6" base layer & a 1" bedding layer. This gives the patio a good strong base to start on top of, & allows any suface water that may come in contact to run off and away from the pool. This is the right way to do it! This seating area was given a 2% slope sloped away from the pool and the house. After the stone is installed, this patio area will be grouted and sealed to prevent any stains or mildew from growing!

This project was probably the biggest flowerbed cleanout to date ever! There was 7 years of overgrowth. Dewberry vines, bermuda grass, poison ivy, chamberbitter, & all sorts of nasty weeds that were choking out the good plants! All of it has been ripped out, sprayed, & is completely gone. I will be coming back in August to do the backyard! It is possible to keep your flowerbeds pretty and with new fresh material throughout the growing season. I am getting ready to build a mini flagstone patio in this Bossier backyard. This is going to be a grouted flagstone patio/seating area, & this space used to be a flowerbed. I saved all of the plants and took them to mine & family members gardens. It's important that you take all of this dirt out & get a quality 5-6" thick roadbase layer for the area to rest on.
The dad will be cooking hamburgers while the kids are eating right in front of him. And after they'll jump back in the pool!

Your flowerbeds can be clean & free of weeds too! A flowerbed that's full of weeds can choke out your good plants by outcompeting them for water & nutrients, causes pest damage by harboring harmful insects, & it looks messy. Begonias can bring a powerful splash of color to any display or showcase garden bed. Annuals should be planted ASAP to maximize their color. Thank y'all for the birthday wishes from everyone this year! This season has been an adventure. With some of the biggest projects I've ever taken on. A good mulch job depends on proper prepwork to keep the mulch clean, & weeds, out. A thorough weeding followed up by lice edging or installing edging, & a pre-emergent treatment on the dirt. Finally tamp it, & then apply the mulch. This keeps the dirt from mixing with the mulch, keeping your garden bed fresh & clean. Call me today at (318)-455-8384.
