Did you know that smoke detectors have a lifespan of 10 years? To find out when yours needs to be replaced, check the back of the alarm and look at the date of manufacture. While you're checking your smoke alarms, go ahead and check your carbon monoxide detectors, too. They should be replaced every 5 years. Electrical tip of the day: This is probably a well-known piece of advice, but I'll share it anyway. If you want to lower your electric bill, replace all of your standard bulbs with LED bulbs. They provide the same amount of light at a lower wattage.
