Shower mold: Shower mold can appear for many reasons, the main reason we see is a lack of ventilation. This does not mean you need a new fan, although you might. 90% of the time it's due to a blocked hose so your fan can run but the air has no place to go. In this case, this person's exhaust hose was placed over the rafters and allowed to exit through the soffit. Your attic should be cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer. The cold attic and warm/hot showers cause the steam that is being exhausted to condensate, the condensation becomes heavy and the hose sags causing water builds up eventually blocking the airflow. In this case, 9 gallons of old water were removed.

If you found mold on your drywall and it's in the paper like most people, you will search google on how to clean mold off drywall if the mold is in the paper you will find the following. “The best thing for removing mildew and mold from walls is a bleach/water solution. Mix one part bleach with three parts water and apply it with a sponge or rag. There are also a number of commercial solutions available at your local hardware store.”

The fact is bleach will remove the stain but not kill the mold. Mold on drywall normally needs to be removed and is often times caused by water or condensation. That could be covered by insurance if presented properly.
