Farm to Table? This totally counts! 👩🏼🌾
My go to method for fresh salads has always been a simple long patio pot overseeded with whatever salad greens my heart desires!
Even though I’m staying in a long term Airbnb while House Mom-ing for the crew, my gardening soul couldn’t resist the urge to nurture some baby plants! Spring in the South is pretty great y’all!
I’m flying back to CO next week to get the greenhouse operation up and running. And even though I’m already feeling behind and having stress nightmares about supply chain issues and heaters failing…I can’t wait to be covered in potting soil and dancing around in a greenhouse full of colorful annuals! 🌸

> Great for people with small spaces and volitile spring weather. Easy to pick up and move outside on a sunny day, just don’t forget to pull them back in when the spring snow storms hit! Once established, greens can handle a light frost and often taste even better!
>Use a high quality potting mix (no bark, organic if possible). Wet the potting mix before sprinkling your seeds, then cover with another light layer of moistened potting mix.
>Water with a light mist from a spray bottle during germination and while seedlings are still tender. Once the true edible leaves develop I switch to a watering can, just go easy on the little guys!
>In this case, I chose a pot with no drainage holes so I wouldn’t have to worry about damaging the floor with water when I had to bring it inside. Just be careful not to overwater and drown them.
>Harvest via the Cut & Come Again method: pinch the larger leaves for your recipe and leave the smaller new growth for next time.
>If you happen to have a garden bed, you can also use this method to get a jump on your seed starts. If this planter survives the road trip home with my hubby in a couple weeks (no pressure babe! 😘) I might try to carefully divide these seedlings into individual pots for larger plants eventually. Did someone say kale chips! 🤞☀️🤩
