Local Gem spotlight: Lake Jocassee 🌅

We're lucky to call the Upstate SC home, and places like this are a big reason why. Twenty-five years of living and building here, and this place still stops us in our tracks.

Did you know:
Lake Jocassee was created in 1973 when Duke Power dammed the Whitewater, Thompson, Horsepasture, and Toxaway Rivers, flooding the old Jocassee Valley to form the 7,500-acre lake we know today. The name comes from a Cherokee legend about a maiden named Jocassee. The lake is still famous for its remarkably clear, cold mountain water and hidden waterfalls.

Where is your favorite Upstate Nature area?

Fusion Upstate Spotlight: Lake Robinson, South Carolina is an amazing spot we love! It is great for picnics and sunsets.

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake Robinson is a place where natural beauty and local history come together. Its calm waters reflect stunning Carolina skies, creating a peaceful retreat for boaters, anglers, kayakers, and anyone seeking a moment of tranquility.

Beyond its beauty, Lake Robinson plays an important role in the community. Planning for the lake began in the late 1960s, and the dam on the South Tyger River was completed in 1984. Created as a drinking water reservoir for the City of Greer, the lake now spans roughly 800–840 acres and offers miles of shoreline for recreation and wildlife habitat. Named after John A. Robinson, an original member of the Greer Commission of Public Works, the lake remains both a vital resource and a treasured destination.
