🌿 Mowing Tip 🌿

As we enjoy the beautiful summer days here in South Dakota, it's the perfect time to talk about keeping our lawns lush and healthy. One of the key factors to a thriving lawn is the correct mowing height. Here are some tips to get it just right:

For cool-season grasses, like Kentucky bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue, aim for a mowing height of 2.5 to 3.5 inches. This helps maintain a deep root system, which is crucial for drought resistance and overall lawn health.

Why does it matter?
Keeping your grass a bit longer:

🌱 Shades the soil, reducing w**d growth.

💧 Retains moisture, reducing the need for frequent watering.

🌿 Encourages a thicker, more robust lawn.

Mowing Tips:
✂️ Don't cut more than 1/3 of the grass blade at once.
If your lawn is overgrown, gradually reduce the height over
several mowings.

🔄 Change mowing patterns and alternate the direction each
time to prevent compaction & encourage upright growth.

🌤️ Mow when the grass is dry. This ensures a clean cut and
prevents disease.
