Meet the Owner: Ben Harvey đź‘‹
Fun fact: Before founding Harvey Custom Homes, Ben spent years learning every side of the building industry—from swinging a hammer and managing remodels to helping contractors select the right building materials.
Ben's experience in construction started long before Harvey Custom Homes was founded. Growing up, he spent his early years alongside his dad working on home projects, learning the value of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail from the ground up.
He continued working in construction throughout college while earning his degree in Construction Management from South Dakota State University. After graduating, Ben moved to Rapid City where he managed residential remodel projects, gaining hands-on experience in project oversight and client coordination.
His career then expanded into building material sales in Minneapolis, where he worked closely with contractors across a wide range of job sites. This chapter gave him a unique advantage—an in-depth understanding of building materials, product performance, and quality differences from a perspective most builders don't get to experience.
After returning to Sioux Falls and continuing in material sales, Ben combined his field experience, product knowledge, and industry relationships to launch Harvey Custom Homes—focused on building high-quality homes with a process clients can trust.
